With regards to the restaurant seating you could have asked for a different table. Maybe they thought they were doing you a favour by placing you away from the "family" crowds. Two men together may have business matters to discuss, and not want to be disturbed by chatter from mixed groups- hence Men's clubs etc.
I gave up eating dinner at restaurants long ago, I only eat out at lunchtime nowadays, cheaper and I think healthier than eating late.
I have not worn cuff links for many years.
I thought you were on a cholesterol lowering diet dg !

Yes, this. I love the atmosphere at the Cittie of York, but I gave up going on Friday evenings a while ago - the combination of staff numbers and staff training just aren't up to the scrum it becomes.

I'd definitely recommend going back for a Saturday lunch, or mid-afternoon drinks any day of the week (except Sunday, when it's shut) - service works well then, and is friendly too...

Presumably your real reason for not staying in the Cittie of York was that you discovered they don't sell Beck's :)

Cittie of York beer is yummy and (by London standards) almost free. As for the food, however, I think you had a narrow escape.

Oooh. but the Cittie of York sounds like a place that wouldn't sell bottled Becks! (And Zizzi sounds like a place that does). How had this affected the daytum stats??

Oh - martin - I swear i wrote my comment, before then actually seeing the rest and reading yours! oops...

The question stands though DG, what drink would you have had in the Cittie of York (if the Becks assumption is correct...)

Has this affected the Mystery Count?

Bar staff who don't pay attention are one of my all time annoyances. I worked behind a bar as a student. It's not hard to pay attention.

I blame the cufflinks.
