How do you *do* all this? Are you really a team?

How about including Colonel John Hunt in your facts? He was the leader of the expedition, the man who planned it all and got them all up there in the first place. Edmund Hillary's name is the one everyone remembers, but he was just the expedition member who was selected by Hunt to do the final climb. Hunt never gets his share of the credit for this historic achievement, but it wouldn't have happened without him.

What about the fastest ascent...only recentlky in about 10 hours. Cant remember the name of the Sherpa dude that did it though.

And today is Ascension Day.

Sherpa Lhapka Gelu is the fastest. 10h 56m.

Oldest - Japan's Yaichiro Miura - aged 70.

You missed the fact that a helicopter crashed a couple of days ago, just as BBC Breakfast had a man on the spot (live coverage courtesy of one of Mr BW's products I'm told) to mark the monumental Everest Anniversary.

The helicopter crash is the last one of those green blobs over there in the list of Everest links...

Ah, sorry.

I thought the green blobs were "to be continued".

Silly Witch.

I'm glad you said it's the highest mountain, rather than the tallest, which it's not.

Don't know what is, though.

enjoyed it. THanks for the links too.
