Dear Diamond Geezer

Many, many thanks for a brilliant post. I have been wondering about these closures and you have put it all together. Well done and many thanks.

Thanks DG:

After being very pro olympics for the whole duration I am finally starting to tire of the complete overkill on security.

All our little haunts seem to be being shut down.

Whilst I can understand the View Tube needs to shut for a while because of the warm-up track, the Lea? are they friggin sure?

Guess that 20 foot high security fencing, patrolling Gurkhas and 10000 CCTV Cameras weren't enough.

Rant over, we'll live.

Just hope they do DO reopen as scheduled and without bits being reclassified as "Private" land.

Thanks for all this info, DiamondGeezer - very useful, and more comprehensive than official sources.

Still can't believe how early some of these closures are starting - a bit dispiriting - gives the impression that all of East London has to be shut down for the Olympics.

Very interesting as always, with lots of useful info and links. I shall try to visit the View Tube again before it closes.

Just one niggle - the two links about Crossrail works are broken.

hmmm - my head hurts - all these different closures and rules and dates!!!

Wait till you see what is happening at Westfield...

Many thanks DG for all the information that you have collected on our behalf, although I attend as many local meetings as possible they are all a little vague as to what they let you know, I was told at a recent meeting that they are concerned about a security attack from a boat on the Lea and that's why the decision has been made to close the canal except for a narrow window for pre booked vessels, also on the opposite canal bank from the Olympic park all premises have been visited and details of who works there and what sort of business they are running has been logged.

Pudding Mill Lane station will also have to close a couple of weeks before the Games start as the Park (extra) security cordon goes into place...

Hi just to confirm the View Tube will re open in December as the facility moves into it's full community role. Which should be a fantastic facility for the local community, lucky enough have been invited to the opening day event. Cant wait!
