Comments from people listing some bands they've seen or telling us about a concert they once went to.
I've been to a lot of gigs (I don't have a number at the moment) and the only artist we have in common is Elton John!
Saw Erasure in a "sweaty bar" before they hit the big time ... not sure if they're allowed in my count .
Have 7 in common with you, if Martine McCutcheon in My Fair Lady counts as a gig.

Highlight you missed were Sparks at Camden Roundhouse, Monkees at RAH, Shania Twain at Wembley. You were probably busy with Becks those nights.

dg writes: Hang on, I have seen Sparks, so that makes 8 in common.
Rolling Stones at Eel Pie Island before they were famous, The Temperance 7, Nana Mouskouri, Demiss Roussos, Cliff Richard, Russ Conway, Billy Cotton and his band, probably others I cannot remember as all would have been some time ago.
I can only claim 24 big names from memory, but surprised only Elton John and possibly Rick Wakeman coincide with yours. Not sure whether I can include Prodigy as I didn’t see them but could hear Firestarter from home 17 miles from Glastonbury (including the words, with the windows closed).
Once went to a St Etienne gig, but unfortunately St Etienne didn’t. ☹️
Got in free by helping the roadies: Thin Lizzy, Gong, Dr Feelgood (they had a no 1 album you know)

Got paid to see (and use proper toilets) at Glastonbury as a council official: Ian Dury, Billy Bragg, The Cure (with real forked lightning behind the pyramid stage outdoing the lasers)

Drove Marillion around in a minibus after their gig, trying to find a student party because they wanted to go to one.

Hazel O’Connor twice, about 40 years apart.

Dexies Midnight Runners twice, once arriving in a supposedly impassable snowstorm.

Elton John at Birmingham Odeon, and sat in the audience and the bar with the stars of Tiswas.

Met Comsat Angels in a Paris Backstreet trying to find their venue where 5 of us were their only audience.

The Smiths, on stage for about 3 hours, supported by James - excellent.

Also: The Undertones, 10 CC, 3 Tenors, Hawkwind, Wurzles, Bad Manners, Rick Wakeman, Blue Jays, Mari Wilson, The Photos and others I can’t recall

Hugh Cornwall did Stranglers hits in the skittle alley of our tiny country pub and Boy George turned up another time for a drink.
This doesn't really qualify for the topic but on this day in 1981 I attended my first ever pop concert, The Teardrop Explodes at Hammersmith Odeon. Changed my life.
Thanks DG, I shall proudly use that as my forum name in future if you don't mind.
The Specials, but without Terry, so it only sort of counts.
I'm surprised by some of the names that don't seem to appear in the various lists that I have seen.

Beach Boys, Bonnie Tyler, Jefferson Starship, Neil Diamond (don't ask - for a friend), Sade.

And, Sheena Easton, with a personal message signed album sleeve to boot - well, I was young once!
I had to Phone A Friend (in Australia) to refresh my memory of some more bands we saw in the late 1970s / early 1980s. Not only did he provide the names but also venues and dates.

Cocteau Twins ( Venue, London Nov 1982)
Slits & The Pop Group (London College of Printing, Elephant & Castle May 1979)
Honey Bane & Phasers on Stun (some London College gig 1979?)
Peter Gabriel (“Power in the Park” Battersea Park Sept 1978) plus The Skids & others
Ruts (Acton Town Hall April 1979 & other London venues)
Doctors of Madness (Nashville Rooms May 1978)
Blurt (either Moonlight Club London Aug 1980 or Music Machine London June 1980)
Dolly Mixture (Moonlight Club 1979?)
Monochrome Set (Music Machine London 1979?)
Suicide (Music Machine July 1978)
Only Ones (Canterbury Art College 1979)
Purple Hearts (Kent University, Canterbury 1979) Band I was in was supporting them!
A change in circumstances has meant that after a gap of a few years I've been able to get back to live gigs, since February I've seen The Stranglers, Robert Plant, Paul Weller, Crowded House, PiL, & got Peter Hook & the Light in July.
Saw Blurt and Ted Milton a couple of times, (the Africa centre Covent Garden?) My mother was a friend of the enemy of the people.
