Shame you didn't spend longer in Penshurst - you could have had Tea at the Fir Tree. It's a very very nice place for a very very nice cream Tea.

They know how to make Tea too, not a bag in a cup of once boiled water.
Hever Castle hosts an excellent and long-established open air theatre season from mid-May to the end of August, with a proper stage and tiered, covered seating set in front of the lake. The programme is very varied and on a fine summer's evening it's a great experience.
Ah Edenbridge, we used to live there in a lane at the end of the High Street. When there was a flood warning we got a knock on the door, often early in the morning, and got given sandbags. Oddly it never flooded.

The Edenbridge Town station may have been quiet when you went DG, but try the 07:50 to Victoria on a weekday !

The other station, Edenbridge, is a mile or so up the road and is on the Tonbridge to Reigate line, very pleasant. http://www.sussexcrp.org/tonbridge-reigate/tonbridge-reigate.html
Added loads to my list of places to visit, thanks!
