If you do the sums, George III reigned for 59 years and 97 days, whilst the Queen has so far reigned for 59 years and 96 days. (both counts include the first and - to date! - last day)

What makes the difference is the Leap Year days - Both monarchs came to the throne in a Leap Year (1760/1952), and both included a Century Year, but George's reign did not include Feb 29th in those years, and QE2's did, so she has seen 15 LYDs and G3 only 13.
