Being Welsh I appreciate the final photograph, however, you must have been reasonably close to the Aquatics Centre from the viewpoint of your penultimate photo. Could you have done it in less than a minute, i.e. if it was 20'xx"?
No.
It's not just top-notch hockey - local clubs and universities also play at Lee Valley, so Wednesdays and weekends are the best times to visit if you want to watch a match or two.
It never ceases to amaze me how early the daffodils are in the Olympic Park. It's either the micro-climate or the particular variety!
I was surprised to see pedalos in the Olympic Park.
Waiting for the QEOP to make suggestions on how to rearrange the council boundaries at the next review date. It does seem quite daft for the park to sit in four authorities & makes pointless duplication for any planning changes that cross the borough boundaries WITHIN the park curtilage.
...the LLDC is responsible for all planning decisions within the Olympic Park zone, so no change of council boundaries is necessary.
It’s a shame the LLDC still has all the planning powers. Newham is unable to veto that disgusting giant advertising sphere MSG are planning to build next to a Newham residential estate.

re LLDC, do you believe that it will last forever? In the 80s I was involved in the development of the Docklands area, which overlapped three boroughs. It was run overall by the LDDC which had similar powers to what we're discussing here (note the almost identical names!).
When development was finally complete the LLDC was disbanded. Why wouldn't that happen with QEOP?
One suspects that when the LLDC does eventually go away - some "QEOP" quango will still remain to look after and coordinate the park and its various immediate facilities and white elephants *coughTheOrbitcough* ...
I've seen a boat go through Carpenters Road Lock twice because I was on the boat in question. The problem is you have to book a week in advance, it's not on a through route to anywhere, and mooring to explore the Olympic Park on foot isn't encouraged. Still worth doing though.
Why was it clear that comment with the LEE spelling came from SE18..

Your SE12 Lee, definitely is Lee, but to us, I and most of everyone who grew up and/or lived either side of the said river, it's sure as can be LEA.

It looks nicer that way, innit?
I almost always use the spelling Lea,
...but the 'Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre' uses Lee instead,
...which is why I used it in the text,
...and why the commenter for SE18 used it too,
...so nothing to do with where they live.
It is a pity that you didn't find time to walk the extra yards to view the 9/11 Monument.

They've made it really difficult to find, but, when you gaze upon those tortured steel columns, the true horror of Man's Inhumanity to Man comes hurtling back.

Is E20 really newer than N1C?
