please empty your brain below

Well you have the time between the meetings to do your real work, at least you are in a job so be pleased.

Guess you won't be at the Brent Council St. Patricks Day Parade and events later today.

And since you seem to have spare time to blog, could you please fix the Haloscan clock while you are online? Thanks. Oh, and update the daily kittens page ...

Why is it generally considered virtuous to be up early?
"The early bird gets the worm" - and I hope it gets indigestion.
I've just logged on to work from home at 11:00 am. I'll be here until 7:30 at least, probably later. I do my hours. I naturally work much better later, and from mid-afternoon until 7:30 or so is my peak.
Some of my colleagues work 6:00am until 2:30. Fine if that's what suits them. But why are they considered the virtuous ones?
It's just different people.

Friday afternoon meetings = punishable by DEATH.

That is all.

most of the local universities don't bother to schedule afternoon friday classes as no one will show--not even the profs. being paid!

What Scaryduck said above also goes for breakfast meetings - 8am onwards, breakfast provided... 2 mini pastries and lukewarm orange juice does not constitute breakfast.

DG, you have my sympathies.

I like 8 am meetings myself, but I can see why far from everyone would agree. Lunchtime meetings have become very normal here I'm afraid... thank god I almost never got anything after 5 pm. The few times we do have those at least there's a bunch of pizzas and beer provided!

there is a daily kitten page?!? where??? where!!!

The most idiotic work scenario I have heard recently was from a woman I was chatting to at a party. She was a "major crisis planner" for the MET and very, very proud of her very, very important job.

But she only worked 3 days a week.

I asked what happened if a major crisis happened on one of her off days.....no answer.

It wasn't even a job share.

I think she may have been a potato- with blight.

Have a Cadbury's Creme Egg to alleviate the misery.

I kid you not.

My Head of Unit has established monthly 'lunch and learns' I have made it clear that I will never ever attend them as lunch for me is for eating not learning.

I have to say, I do like these insightful posts. I understand that sometimes meetings may have to be scheduled at inconvenient times, but having three of these meetings on the same day seems to be pushing it a bit. As for lunch, I always do it properly - away from my desk, and out of the office for an hour.

Still, at least your meetings are out of the way. Hopefully, it'll be better tomorrow and you'll be able to get your proper work done.

The early worm gets eaten.

Oh this blog was a funny one.

Not so long ago I was on a "video conference call" linking Malaysia, Hong Kong, USA, France and me.

The time... 10.30. PM. NIGHT. Bangkok Time. Friday. FRIDAY!

The subject... Disposable nappies.

islington council now have bans in place on eating at your desk.
