I spent ages around St Dunstan's church trying to find the Tony Hancock plaque and couldn't find it.
For what you consider to be a missable section of the walk, this was a very readable and interesting post.
Sounds like you weren't too far from Summerhouse Lane, where you'd find the Hillingdon Narrowboat Association. You might have seen one of their boats at the Canalway Cavalcade
I used to live near Cranford as a child, and remember visiting St Dunstan's Church and the surrounding park. Lovely on a nice day.
...where tabby cats prowl...

Better shots of Bulls Bridge can be taken from the other side of the canal.
You also have the restored dry dock opposite the bridge (although last time I was there, there was rubbish in there, no doubt dropped / thrown by denizens of Hayes) which is quite interesting to look at.
I've passed through the area many times since moving nearby in 2012, and one of the first things I did was walk the Yeading Brook/Crane River. You could definitely smell either coffee or chocolate, depending on the day, coming from the Nestles factory then!

Saddened to hear about the visitor centre fire. That might explain why all the emails about events I attended in the park in 2013/14 suddenly stopped coming.
Is it just me who finds the third sentence of the last para of this post a bit alarming?
