Ah, f*ck. I knew there was something I'd planned to do this weekend. I've got roped into helping a friend move house instead.

I look forward to your photos.

We got a leaflet through the door advising us of this yesterday. Two days before the closure!

Luckily, thanks mainly to your good self, I was aware of it already and have managed a few walks in the last few weeks. I shall continue to peruse the Greenway and towpath to see both the nature and the Olympic building site progresses.

The what? Olympics? Oh, you mean The London Athletic Association. "A Games for Everyone - as long as you're within the M25".

Thanks for the tip-off a few weeks back. A few friends and I walked around the southern part of the site today before walking down the Limehouse Cut for lunch in Wapping.

A most enjoyable day out (if a little damp and windy at times).

Thanks for flagging the imminent closure in advance!

Managed the "Waterworks River" section for the first (and last) time today. Never seen brambles so tall or thick before! Quite a few people out with cameras so I may have spotted you, DG!

I only use Carpenters Road twice two times a week --- to go from Hackney to sportscenter in Gibbins Road, just south of the stratford train station.

I read about the closures and said to myself, "self, it's thursday 5 july, that road is closed, you have to find another way." But as always being rather late, I tried to just take it to be on time (on the outside chance it wasn't really really closed). And it wasn't... But Waterden Road was closed off and checkpointed by two guards. They looked knowledgeable what with the uniform and you wouldn't just for fun close a random road, now, would you? So I tried to talk to them but they didn't really manage the language, and seemingly they had no idea, just doing their job.

So I'd be interested in seeing how can I find out if it's really closed (other than trial&error)? And how to get there (the motorway-linkup is a legal but not fun on my bike)? The ViaMichelin routeplanner, for instance, is not updated for the closures as it lets you drive from Marshgate lane into Waterden Road, no problem.

Question answered: it's shut, each gate across the street. And the passages where pedestrians would fit (as the sides) are equally blocked, just not by gates but by plates.

This means my trip doubles in length, at I have to circle around the site --- at least, until late 2012. Hm. Well, I'll move much sooner so that's solved.
