It's always good to have a challenge to keep you motivated. One of the things that's keeping me occupied is walking around lakes this year, I've done the minimum 12 lakes, but need some more to make the distance goal of 333km.

Given the "partial lockdown" here in Germany we're advised not to travel long distances at the moment, but there are plenty of smaller "puddles" that count closer to home, so I'm doing something similar to you at the moment - which direction and how far out do I need to walk from home to get in 10/20/30km walk (10km minimum needed per lake)!
As I've been working from home for the duration, I'm mostly (hey there are weekends) limited to where I can walk to and back from in 1 lunch hour. Which is depressingly small. I can almost, but not quite, make it to the Surrey border, and it includes all of 4 National Rail stations. I'm at least grateful for there being some very nice parks within limit.

I could probably power-walk Waddon station in, but 5km/h is kind of my limit if I'm keeping the walk leisurely and the return trip is exactly that, ignoring topography.
The nearest station to me on the Tube map is three miles away. Within one mile, just three NR stations.

Parts of the boroughs of Bexley, Bromley, Kingston and Richmond are more than 4 miles from anything on the Tube map.
It looks like you need to move somewhere 4 miles from the Thames to future-proof your location for the next pandemic.
Our arbitrary rule for walks is to try to include at least one stretch of road or path that we've never been on before. Within a pretty small circle with fuzzy edges, we've almost run out of untrodden bits.
In view of all the walking you do, maybe you could tell us how many pairs of shoes you own and how they wear, especially in these days of non-repairable shoes.
Imagine your life if you ever became unable to walk far...
I like a good walk, but the lure of the sofa has been greater this year!
"Imagine your life if you ever became unable to walk far..."
Sadly, I know exactly how that feels. Let me tell you, it's not great. At the start of this year, I could have done all the walks DG has described here. But a rapid onset of arthritis means I now struggle to walk to my nearest bus stop - and that's only 250 metres away. Luckily, a knee replacement op (hopefully soon) should mean I can resume long walks sometime next year. But it certainly is a reminder to count your blessings and be grateful for good health.
Luckily for me, my malfunctioning knee does allow me to still cycle so I can get out and about that way - but given DG aversion to two wheels.....
Lots of Fastest Known Times have been broken this summer (I am particularly in awe of Damian Hall's carbon negative Pennine Way).

The FKT for visiting all tube stations on foot was also broken this summer. Here's a link complete with route.
does the Woolwich Ferry meet your rules?

it's outdoor, and when i used it (cycling) during the Summer there were very few people on it !

Fascinating. Are any of the tunnels under the thames any use to you? Island Gardens to Cutty Sark? Not that I'd particularly recommend walking through the tunnel from Limehouse, but would that give you Rotherhithe?
Blue Witch & IslandDweller - so true. Last Thursday was my first day out of bed since April (cancer). I walked to a local shop, bought food & cooked it. One of the most empowering experiences in my life!
Today's hike was to Essex Road, one of the three stations within four miles of home that isn't on the tube map.

Still a three hour round trip on foot.

Whilst I'm not suggesting that you bike, as per the NB (I'm not a cyclist either) I wonder how far the map would extend for 'comfortable cycle without getting sore arse' for a novice cyclist. I know from painful personal experience, it isn't as far as I can comfortably walk!

Ditto for the eScooters on the eScooter trial, though I suspect 'average battery life of scooter in the wild' might be the limiting factor there.
Essex Road, one of my favourite stations, sort of creepy.

I’ve been working in Islington today and chose to walk from Kings Cross along the canal rather than change at Finsbury Park for the Northern City Line to Essex Road and walk from there.

I may be asking for trouble here, but shouldn't there be four Walthamstow stations -- Central, Blackhorse Road, St James Street, Queens Road? Or is Blackhorse Road just outside the four-mile limit?
If only I'd included a link in the post which allowed you to test that hypothesis.
Essex road is one of my favourite stations too, like stepping back in time with all the old branding! Not sure how old it is, pre-privatisation?
Essex Road station has been refurbished recently so much of the Network South East branding has gone, although some still remains on the track side of the tunnel walls.

I'm hoping DG will blog about Essex Road.

This is also why 1 large pizza is generally better value then 2 medium pizzas. In terms of mass at least.

As to the cycling/scooting question above, distance isn’t really an issue, most can get on a bike and go 20km. It’s about finding safe/comfortable routes.

Not the same as walking somewhere though.
I cannot get on a bike and do 20km.
