please empty your brain below

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

But then, it is your blog and I don't pay anything to read it, so whatever you want DG.

Do you think Blogger is aware that your justified slagging them off is being preserved in perpetuity in the valuts of the British Library...?

If blogger isn't measuring up, which other sites are better ?

Thanks in advance for your response

I agree. Blogger should be intelligent enough to be able to calculate the total size of the images on a blog page, rather than blindly counting the number of pictures regardless of size. After all, it makes no sense to truncate blogs if they're just using small thumbnails or icon-sized images such as emoticons, as opposed to full-sized photographs.

The number of images, regardless of size, does have an impact on the loading time of a page - each time your browser finds another image, it has to open another connection to a server, request that image, wait for it to be sent, and display it.*

As Google have said their aim is to reduce the load time of pages on Blogspot, then cutting the number of images will do this.

But I can't see how truncating pages is in any way a sensible way to do it. Especially given their stated mission: "to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful."

Writing less doesn't seem to be a good way to get around the problem. You mentioned one of your readers was trying to make a lookalike theme for what you're currently using - how's that getting on?

* If you've got a clever browser, and many of the images are coming from the same server, then it can try to do these in fewer connections, but Google might not be taking this into account

Please don't post less.

I would move to my own WordPress installation, but if that is not feasible I would change the templates to have one post on each page with next and previous links, and just a list of headlines on the archive pages.

I know you're upset about Blogger, DG, but it is a bit unseemly fishing for accolades from your devoted readership. :-)

Provided that Blogger's auto-pagination counted just the number of actual "img" tags in HTML but neglected scripts altogether, one might be able to disguise images by using a Javascript function that puts images in place on loading the page in a browser.

While I'm quite certain about the Javascript part, I don't know at all whether auto-pagination is that easy to fool, nor do I have a blog on my own to try it out.

Hmmm don't write less as personally, I come to your blog to read the words in your posts. The images are a nice feature but many of your posts would be just as enjoyable without. Anyway, I only need to hop over to flickr if I want to see your pictures.

:( blither! There's got to be some way around this surely?

Less is more

Wasn't it Elton John who said "Less is more but more is better"?

ok

It sucks!
You'll just have to come up with some killer one liners!

I am seriously thinking of moving onto my own domain as this is ridiculous. When I posted this morning, I reported that my March archives started on the 11th. Now that I have published - with two pictures, it starts on the 12th.

It looks like goodbye Blogger...

oh no... does this mean an end to the flag of irony?!?

Do change, DG. (It worked for me.)

You're too much of an icon to be cast aside.
