Was the Apollo Regent Street more expensive than a bog standard central London cinema? Did it have comfy seats?

PS- not being lazy I just can't find the prices on the web. Thanks

Apollo prices are £8.50 during the day and £12.50 in the evenings. Which is a bit more "ouch" than most West End cinemas.
It's still cheaper than waiting until Flood comes out on DVD, though.

Excellent reviews. Thanks for sharing. Would you like to come and see a little film which lasts one minute 24 seconds, and give me your review? I promise you it's a little piece of magic

And I'd been thinking the price rise in Norwich (to £5.50 daytime, £6 evenings) was a bit much.

And I was certain you'd do the World Beard and Moustache Championships this weekend.

I have heard other people complain about the echo in the Dome (O2) Vue screen 11, probably due to the large size of the auditorium and the balcony. The "old" cinemas from the 1930's often had poor acoustics, due to their large size and overhanging balcony. Today with computer aided design and sound absorbent materials it is a strange that the Domes screen 11 was built with an echo. Especially as reports I have read praise the acoustics in the Dome (O2) Arena.
The largest screen in London is at the IMAX Waterloo, I think the Vue 11 Dome screen can claim to be the largest screen showing 35mm film.
The Greenwich Picture house is one of very few local cinemas left that can still show 70mm film. Although now digital projection is beginning to be used in several cinemas I doubt there will be many, if any, more 70mm showings.
Pity they crammed you all into a couple of rows at Greenwich, (makes it easier for the cleaners) I prefer unallocated seating if the film is only playing to half full houses.
Good to know you do actually go to a cinema to watch a film.

Maybe the Picturehouse girl was a Psychology student conducting an experiment.

"And there are several reminders that surveillance techniques are now so good that if the government wants you dead, there's now no place to hide. Unless you're Jason Bourne that is." or possibly Osama Bin Laden ? There was once a comment in a Bond book, (Diamonds Are Forever, I think) in which it was mentioned that Americans relied too much on technology and gadgets, without which, they weren't much cop. I have yet to see a scenario involving American military or government intervention which hasn't borne out the truth of this observation.

As an ex employee of greenwich picturehouse, i am disgusted by the name calling of an assistant behind the box office. If you are wanting to call someone names then call the management names because they are the people that tell the staff to place everybody together, this is so that there aren't odd seats around the auditorium in case it does sell out. Yes i know its annoying being sat next to someone and most days at the cinema it is not full but when it is full the allocated seating is a God send, when people abide by the seats and we have a general rule that when the film starts you may seat where you like anyway. Just be a little more careful about calling people names.

Dear anon,

Just as you chose to remain anonymous, I too carefully declined to name the assistant behind the Greenwich Picturehouse box office. That way I get to insult the cinema, and not an individual employee.

If there's "a general rule that when the film starts you may seat where you like anyway", then why doesn't anybody tell this to the audience?

I still stand by my accusation that not spreading out the allocated seating is lunacy. Why cram everyone into a small section of the auditorium in case a coach party arrives at the last minute?

I've not been back.
