Nice that there is an exhibition of Murphy radio.(Only temporary). Frank Murphy rented land for his radio factory in Welwyn Garden City at the end of year 1929, inexpensive and a nice environment for his employees. His radios were initially sold in Gamages store in Holborn.
Guess I’m showing my age, I had a 1935 Murphy radio as a lad in the 1940’s. I doubt if many people still remember Murphy Radios now.
Of course British TV and Radio manufacturing companies have gone the away like most manufacturing in this country.
Well at least you have one comment!

The last sentence in the Mill Green Mill paragraph had me thinking whether it was a profound reference to "you" (as in me the reader, as opposed to you, the author, who did not seem to get any attention in cream tea garden), or whether the sentence came to an unintentional abrupt stop?

Have just watched the GRJ BBC1 prog on the Lea and the phrase I would to choose to sum it up is 'lip service'. Granted, he only had an hour, but he skimmed over the important historical bits and dwelt far too long on inconsequential parts (like the rowing club) that supposedly made for entertaining telly.

DG, you are doing the Lea great justice with your blogging - keep it up!

Likewise just watched the BBC rivers programme, with the Lea featured tonight. Found it easy to watch and take in without really engaging; in the same way the some 'Coast' programmes go off on unrelated, tangetial stories. Not bad but not as good as what I've been reading on this blog so far.

Looks like you should have waited before walking one of the previous stretches. See news item: http:/
