Actually there was - until a few years ago - a regular annual parade and event at Burgess Park, and quite a spectacle it was, too.
It was known as the Carnaval del Pueblo, and was a celebration of the local South American communities. Sadly, only a year or two after I'd discovered it, I found my self attending what would turn out to be the last one
Completely plausible bolx!
If the SELCHP parade had been happening, I would have volunteered to lie down before the tank somewhere on Surrey Canal Road as a symbolic protest against some of Lewisham council's bulldozer-style planning methods in that area.
