For an even more inexplicable reason my second most viewed photo is one of my daughter's feet while she was sunbathing.

Well, dg, you not only missed the delights of: Harrow Arts Centre (a charming destination in its own right); the former RAF Bentley Priory site; charming Pinner village; the site of Fawlty Towers hotel; and much, much more; but I am most distressed that you chose not to drop into my aspirational, suburban, Metroland semi- for a coffee! (Actually, I was out all day, oddly enough on a bus going past your place.)

dg writes: Heath Robinson's house is in Pinner Village, innit? And RAF Bentley Priory's tomorrow.

Wot no Wood Lane! I was very pleased today to find Wood Lane open - did it open this morning - I know you are normally pretty hot on this sort of stuff...

dg writes: Opened yesterday, and yes I've been, but you'll have to be patient for a report.

Although my father was born in Lissenden Mansions (made famous by Betjeman), he spent the remainder of the pre-war years in Hatch End. I presume that two of my aunts were born in Hatch End.

My father was actually named after St Dominic's Priory nr Belsize Park. After wartime evacuation in Blackpool, the grandparents went to live in Belsize Park. My father claimed that every area he ever lived in went up in the world after he left!

Which is the most viewed photo?

Thanks for those snapshots of Heath Robinson's home. Very interesting. It's always fascinating to see where people actually lived.

Henry VIII's profit of £7337 is about £3million in today's money. Perhaps the property was offered to someone who thought it unwise to demur.
