If it helps, I enjoyed having you watch me.
(Oh sorry, “9”)
Of all the different types of DG blogpost, I find these ones the most interesting. It's the little insights into DG's world that do it.
20 - I can't believe the Gold Card Discount still isn't automatically put on...
22 - Maybe spare content for a rainy day post? I'd like to hear about it anyway !
6 The Malvern Hills are definitely stunning and used to be my favourite day out when i lived in Birmingham. One way to visit by public transport is to get the train to Colwall, then climb up to British Camp and walk back to Malvern.
30. The unopened road north of the Velodrome was used for a stunt in Lucky Man on the TV. They rolled an ambulance.
26: as a native East Londoner in exile who spent a lot of time on those ferries in youth, I'm annoyed to have missed this. Though some of the fun ended when they started commanding you to leave and if necessary reboard the vessel after each crossing.

Not sure how they will cope with only two ferries under the new setup though
o.k then

10) 1st day of October and already mentioned Christmas!

14) maybe weed...chill-out! it all part of living in a vibrant, cosmopolitan and progressive western city.
6: The Malvern Hills were literally my playground growing up, they are wonderful aren't they :) And their non-nonsense north-south orientation and encircling roads means you can never really get lost. They're an excellent landmark for the kids in the car, too, when visiting my parents (who keep threatening to move away ... just, why?!)
Never a dull moment, is there?
18 - The path by Enderby’s Wharf is apparently now reopened, after a long wait. I’ll try to get down to check it out soon.
Number three looked delicious.

Also what this post shows, is that although it depends on the individual, it does help to live a mega city if you wish to be entertained.
I am just glad that DG takes the time out to inform us of his travels and insights to daily living.

28: different view on theft vs 19 and 23?
14) it will be interesting to see if your writing becomes more chilled / slurred !

20) do you operate a Z12 annual travelcard ?
to me, 19 and 23 read as entirely consistent views of theft: to wit "theft is wrong"
26: The 50+ year old Woolwich ferries are running until the end of this week, closing from the 6th, so some readers might still have one last chance for a farewell visit. IanVisits went last year.

The service will be closed until the new ones arrive next year - a shame, but I'm sure the service must have been interrupted from time to time in its 710 year history. The new ferries are meant to have increased capacity for passengers, which is extraordinary given the size of current vessels, but I think they mean more space for vehicles on deck not people below.
9. Gosh I wish I'd known, as I walked past twice that day and I would have pressed my nose up against the window had I known that not one but TWO greats were sat inside!
20: Thank you for making me aware that I need to actively get the gold card discount applied to my Oyster card.

Like Andrew, I'm baffled that they don't automatically add the discount to the Oyster card that holds your gold card.
20: Non-London Gold cards are a way of getting a railcard if not eligible for any other. For example Lichfield City to Lichfield Trent Valley. They can also be manually added to Oystercards.
6 - agree with cjw714 - done that twice and it’s a good plan as you end up in Malvern for refreshment: Start Colwall station, walk south/east up onto the hills, then north along he ridge
9) Always frustrating when DG visits your neck of the woods. Might have been there myself but wouldn't have known it was DG. In this case even more frustrating as I have met Geoftech and would have recognised him.
20: @Matthew Dickinson - I once did that with a Ryde Pier Head - Esplanade ticket, when I did a fair bit of off-peak PAYG travel. Never did work out whether it actually saved me money.

30: Northwall Road has also been used for stunt filming for EastEnders (finally actually in E20!) and was used as a service road/car park for various North Park events over the summer. I think it sometimes gets used as a diversionary route to Westfield if Waterden Road is closed. Most of the time it's closed with concrete blocks, presumably to prevent it becoming a traveller site, but I guess keeping out mopeds is a bit trickier
20. This is the third time we've had the Ryde/Lichfield Gold Card discussion in the comments this year (& the 7th time overall) :)
19 and 23 Malcolm, well what about 3 too ?
Days which have not inspired comment:
1 2 4 5 7 8 12 13 15 16 17 24 25 27 29
26 - Is that Parliament thing actually happening or just someone's flight of fancy?
22 - Hundreds drifting away? Their loss! Do tell, preferably without starting the post with the word "So"!

I do like repeating myself :)
1: Is there a name for the fear that you'll press the button and the door won't open and you'll look silly trying to figure out what to do? I definitely have that.

7: I've given up eating flavored versions of products because it seems likes it's just marketing and artificial flavors but a Lemon Drizzle KitKat is something I will buy.
7. According to the list of ingredients, there is no lemon (or drizzle) in a Lemon Drizzle KitKat.
7. Lemon and drizzle substitute?
You manage to do more in a month than I do in a year. Your self motivation is something else or else mine is especially dire.
29. I went to Cannizaro a little while ago. A big dog nearly chewed up a small dog on the way in. It seemed like a dog owners paradise where they let their dogs off the lead to run havoc and crap everywhere. The tea room cum restaurant had a horrible fishy smell. So we went to the hand-in-hand down the road. The formal gardens looked very bare. I'm not going back :-(
7. Mmmm yes. I bought one packet of nine for a pound, decided I liked them, and bought ten more. Appropriately stretched out, and interspersed with regular Kit Kats, they should just about last me to their Best Before date.

Or maybe not, because I'm going to go and have one now.
