Amazing. I too walked over these toilets many times on my way to and from work when I lived in Bromley and was surprised to see that they hadn't been filled in like so many of their kind. Their listing answers the question as to why they are still there. It's a shame I no longer live in London. Would have loved to have seen the space.
I remember very well when this Gentlemens toilet was open for business. The ladies had been closed for many years before I was living in the area due to the road widening and the footway reduction around the central Island but the gents was definately "Open for business".

It was a great place to stop of at when you were desperate and did not really want to pee up against someone's wall or fence. I for one would welcome very much the reopening of these wonderful conveniences and would be more than willing to pay for the privilege.
'a young gentleman invited me down into the gents on my way home last night, I was more than excited'.....the mind boggles!
Hmmm. Matchgirls Go On Strike!
That would've been some headline!
I went along to Listed Loo this afternoon and applaud the artists for creating such an unusual and memorable site-specific event. Great stuff.
And, of course, I passed the subject of one of last month's posts, The Kings Arms, on the way. God, it does look pitiful.
I too "paid a visit", the artists were initially excited when I mentioned this blog, exclaiming "Are you Diamond Geeser?!!". Alas no...
Very fine! They blog made me think of these - so I posted a picture for you!
