Margate? I reckon the "not any more" will take you to one of England's decaying seaside towns

I concur. So at the moment you're at Charing Cross?

Over 2 hours? Poole?

Or, as you mention "and beyond", Great Yarmouth via Norwich?

Um, depends which London station you are starting off from!

Perhaps somewhere truly obscure - Matlock Bath?!

Bognor?

Southend? Does it actually take 2 hours to get there?

Ramsgate? You did say end of the line.

Hastings?

Aylesbury or Bicester

The Grotto in Margate?

Cool, like this idea!

Popular tourist spot? Can't be waiting at Liverpool Street then for a train to Cheshunt then!

I'm a new reader, so hello! Can't quite remember how I got here...a series of links form other peoples blogs, I imagine...anyway, just wanted to say I totally love this idea and would probably do something similar myself, had my faith in National Rail not have been whittled down to almost non-existing over the years of being forced to use their disgraceful service!
You're very brave, you could have been stuck in town Y (which sounds like almost every town I've been to on the south coast, by the way) for a very long time!
Hurrah you weren't

My line manager commutes from your destination every day, it means she has to get up at 4.30.

2 hours? the fun of the complicated railways of Kent!
