Given the elevation of Hampstead I would expect slightly lower temperatures there than Central London which is mostly on lower ground not much above the level of the Thames.
The weather station in St James Park might be better for a Central London reference.

Why is frost, fog and snow in winter extreme weather, as opposed to regular weather, it'd be extreme if it happened in July and August.

'Impressive' high temperatures. 'Sultry peaks'. How can hot sticky weather be regarded as pleasant? The body sweats. Everything becomes an effort.

21C/70F is just right. Butter spreads and yeast ferments. Walking or cycling can be done without perspiring. It's the recommended temperature for offices. Why do people want more?
Picking up on Still Anon's comment, the Construction Industry refers (or at least used to) to "Excessively Inclement" weather as a parameter. Thus rain is historically "usual" at certain times of the year whilst a day with 20mm is excessive at any time of the year (and thus the contract could claim for an extension of 1 day to the contract period, if the excessive rain had affected the progress of the works). On occasions, the official records would indicate that the weather was indeed excessively inclement at the measuring station, but not on the site, and vice versa, which is where site records were important!
June is the time
Sorry DG, but the chances of any location in London only hearing thunder once in a calendar year are absolutely zero. And have been for maybe 300 million years, when London was probably located n what is now the Sahara desert climate zone. Thunder is a tricky and subjective thing to report accurately, and the Hampstead figure is dubious. To get some idea of how frequent thunder is in UK (surprisingly so), try www.lightningmaps.org - I see there’s thunder near Winchester just now.

I love these annual weather round-ups! I always find it so fascinating to look back over a year, decade, century etc. :)
i'd like one of those mugs

Well I would have written/measured it like that (I don't want to get mugged), but Hampstead and its topography may lead to more rainfall than the rest of London. And more dramatic rainfall - anyone spending a million on a bijoux basement at the bottom of a hill in NW3 might want to look up the great downpour of 1975. The further east you get, the drier it is, which of course, is good news for anyone spending time loitering by E3's Bus Stop M.

So in your last sentence are you saying you prefer atypical weather to typical? That would be ... atypical, I would think.

I had big hail in E16 about 2 months ago twice, and have had loads of thunder this year. Hampstead obviously missed out, or the records are corrupt.
PS Can I have a mug please?
Nearly as good as an England RU World Cup win one.
This link from NW3 Weather shows the famous orange episode of 16th October http://nw3weather.co.uk/wcarchive.php?year=2017&month=10&day=16
I never thought I would have been happy to have been mugged - does it hold a pint, or is it a smaller one that holds a couple of mouthfuls?
