Mark Goodier (9 years, 1994-2002) Has reached the grand old age of 40 and so has been pensioned off to Classic FM.

He was on R2 last week.
Maybe that just proves another of your recent points?
Actually, he was very boring and monotonous cf R2's usual daytime presenters. Which may be why I listen to R2 and not R1.
