A great post, that has probably given me a better appreciation of mine.
He's now living in S Africa, but comes back when he can to visit his family and - I'm flattered to say - see me.
There's no doubting he's seen more of the world than I have, and that he's the more outward one, but it's still nice for me to be able to come up with places to go and things to do that are new to him.
I guess there's one other thing to mention: no matter how long the intervals between his visits, it usually feels like it could have been the day before that we'd last seen each other. Yes, I figure that's friendship.

An interesting and slightly spooky post. There are times when your character and experiences are so like my own that reading your words is like looking in a mirror. People who know me have even asked "are you DG?". Quite clearly I'm not.
It's good that you have Best Mate there for you and long may he stay. I think I'm in a ten year empty period again.

Amen. You are blessed. You are 1 of life's sensitive, quiet folk. Love comes to us in many ways, has many faces. There are people who walk a bit of our life path with us; even carry us at times.it can be for a reason, a season.
We all need that listening ear, the safe person to give us a reassuring hug when we need it.
