Hard seats. More standing space. That is good?
If you ever had to endure the two-car Sprinters in the dying days of Silverlink, these are like another world.
I remember the old Sprinters. Peeling Silverlink stickers and broken seats and all I’m sad they cancelled the plan for Met-line style transverse seats, but apart from that these trains are excellent. A night and day upgrade from the 2-car diesels. Love the video screens and all the little design touches and can’t wait for these to come to the Chingford line |
Is that a full stop or a comma after 'May' in the date and time roundel?
I would not have used either. |
Nice looking trains...now all that is needed is a few "tags" c/o the local "yoof" and they'll be offically christened for London use.
usb sockets have pretty much been a standard figment on new buses all over the country for a few years now.
A bit of failing of the IET Class 80x trains is that in Standard they have plug sockets but no USB ports
Perhaps they can now stop cancelling my East London Line Overground train in the morning because TfL have pinched it to run on the Goblin!
Bombardier are covering the cost for TFL to alllow free travel on GOBLIN during September.
'and eventually things will be back to a proper 15 minute frequency'
users of the sutton loop thameslink service will never have a proper rail service :( |
There are USB ports at EVERY SEAT on the Class 230/D Train on the Bedford - Bletchley line.
(I appreciate this isn't London though) |
The buses operating the X26 have had USB charging ports, for about a year or more now I think.
Sutton loop was to get 4tph when it was planned to terminate it at Blackfriars. Local MP scupoered this with short sighted ignorance driven intervention.
There area USB ports in every seatback on the BYD electric buses operating on route 46 as well. Don't think their Red Arrow brethren (routes 507/521) have them, though.
Charging ports and longitudinal seating just don't go together - people either trip over the cables (if ports located under seat) or they strangle themselves (if located over). Still, looking forward to hearing about the first knife fight over a USB port on the new 710s! |
I wonder how long before the current type A USB sockets have to swapped out for the new type C socket design.
It might be a tricky decision, since offering only type C will privilege younger and wealthier people with newer devices. Maybe they'll have one of each for a time. |
