please empty your brain below

I notice you are not posting at 7am.
I hope there's no significance to this. The good thing is I don't have to wait.
Thanks for thinking up such good and varied stuff
You forgot St Pancras (HS1 domestic) in the future connections.

Apart from that, this was a great read. Thanks.

BTW it seems whenever I use Euston mainline, it seems like the concourse gets more and more cluttered. Now there's a balcony over the exit from the tube, making it dark and gloomy.
On the Warren Street diagram where is escalator no.2 ?
The Hidden London tours are expensive, granted - but they are brilliant (I've done them all now, Euston is so good I've done it twice).

The Lost Tunnels Of Euston and the Charing Cross tours are especially good for those who like slipping through a door from the public realm to the secret...

Photos are here if anyone is interested.
The Hidden Tours aren’t cheap (especially the war rooms one - ouch!) Sure, I’d like more time or a slightly lower cost, but compared to many other “attractions”, I think they’re worth it.
Warren Street itself has had its moments
[Murder of Stan the Spiv, 1949]
BUT THE FIRST TRAIN WAS AT 7.30! NOT 6.30 !!
I've always found one of the most frustrating things about the Victoria line to be the lack of a decent interchange with the West End branch of the Northern Line.

I understand that there is the Euston underpass and the Met's tracks in the way, but was it really not possible to provide CPI at Warren Street?
@Barbicanite
The 3D diagram shows how differently aligned the two routes are at Warren Street. I doubt that anything better could have been achieved here without compromising the site of Euston station (which was always likely to be a much busier station).
It's just a guess, but it looks as though the Vic Line platforms at Warren Street are as far north as they can be on a straight section of track, before it needs to curve east towards Euston.
@geofftech: I went back in time and made sure all the newspapers were re-written so the line's first ever train was shown as 07.32am. Don't let this fakery get in the way of any good story!
Can we continue the EStPKX megastation eastward to the old Kings Cross Thameslink entrance on Pentonville Road? Isn't it still connected underground? Or perhaps it does not count as a separate station any more.

@Rog 😂😂

BUT I HAVE TYPED IN UPPER CASE SO IT MUST BE TRUE !!
It's nice to see the picture of the Post Office Tower says milliem showing his age.
@Steve
Lovely selection of photos of these Hidden Tours. Thanks for sharing them.
Good work DG do you prepare these blogs on the same day or build them up and post them?
All that space in front of Euston just for taxis? I assumed it was going to be a new bus station.

The subway link between the new HS2 station at Euston and the Underground at Euston Square will as I recall require a change of heart and wallet by BT.

When 'we' wanted to link Euston Square to Euston by subway (Plan A; plan B was to 'double-end' the station with a new ticket hall at the eastern end - same problem), BT kindly offered to relocate their adjacent infrastructure for a mere £5m, more than the cost of either option. That killed the idea in about ten seconds flat. BT was already privatised so no 'State' pressure, sorry gentle persuasion could be applied.

Maybe BT are nicer people now, or maybe it wouldn't cost as much as that £5m? Not holding my breath.
@Petras409 Thanks! Glad you liked them!
A major mistake only having access to Euston underground station from within the Mainline station, one not repeated elsewhere with the main stations. Thankfully this will be rectified as part of the HS2 station rebuild.

Access to the underground as a result is horribly crowded, and it must be really annoying to have to keep the NR station open so that people can access the Night Tube!
@kev Escalator numbers 2 and 8 were left vacant for possible conversion to three escalator shafts. Escalator 5 was added when the Victoria was built.
Gosh, if DG hasn't done the Euston Hidden London tour then that means... I can't believe it.. I've been somewhere on the Underground network that DG hasn't! :-o
