First task when you're settled in is to find Bus Stop M
Ah, another Rochdale Pioneer.
Rochdale exists to try and make Oldham look good. (It doesn't work).
Careful dg, you might discover that it's nicer up north :-)
Pure dg classic.
Excuse me, Love, how do you get to Oldham?
Two sheep sculptures in one week. My!
Ah, being Rochdale will this be a Co-operative effort, doubtless paying dividends?
Thank you. Cheered me up no end.
I see you ignored the north east when you talked about easy access, from Newcastle it takes as long to get to Rochdale as it does to London, at least when east coast are running a normal service, you might as well have stayed where you were, why does manchester get everything anyway, first the bbc now this, don't tell me rochdale isn't in Manchester.
Typical Rochdale-centric media attitudes here!
This is brilliant. I want more!
Ah, the joy of reading what a Londoner thinks. Mind you, as a part Yorkshireman I might also be slightly biased, even though I did work across Greater Manchester back at the end of the last century.
If you want to go north, then go really north, Rochdale is only just in the northern half of England ... I'm with Aggrieved Geordie. Try Newcastle instead.
Ee, well i'll go to the foot of our stairs. Get yoursen a bap and sit yourself down luv. We'll ave a nice cuppa and a good old chin wag about what's bin 'appenin down south lately. Is that daft white haired git still Prime minister?
I went north in '89 and stuck. Careful DG, you might get to like it :-) Your pension will go a long way - though further on the tram, than on the e-scooters, if our ill-fated experiment with rental bicycles is anything to go by.
What no mention of Rochdale Hornets RLFC, celebrating their 150th anniversary in 2021? An opportunity lost to summon up purple prose on the joys of grass-roots sports.
It looks a lot nicer than I remember it from visits to relatives in the 1980s. But are they not purpling Rochdale's one truly spectacular building, the town hall?
You had me fooled there, DG. I really believed the turning purple stuff. It's pretty close to the sort of thing that does actually happen...
All four Rochdale stories are true, Malcolm.
Welcome to the North, DG. We're pleased to see you.
Would genuinely love to see all of those 'Coming Soon' posts!
Yer reet welcome. Happen ye'll find bus stop to thy liking.
It was Rochdale Town Hall that Hitler fancied, wasn't it? Or have I said that before?
My blog address has changed from .eu to .co.uk
In the comments of the online Salford Star you can find out what Born Bred Salford Darren thinks about the e-scooter trials - 'The students using these scooters will get pushed off them and get there head kicked in by the local scallywags'. Eeeh, it makes t'heart swell wit' pride.
