2. Have you been back to check? 😉
|
16. Just ordered Walking the Bones of Britain.
|
22 I do remember that tumbledown warehouse the best part of one of my walks when I lived round there. Rather sad it's gone over to more housing. I bet it's not the only thing that's changed and not for the better.
|
26. Coinbrook might be? 4 listed pubs (two of them still open. Ostrich 2*
|
26. I think Ealing Common station also has a heptagonal domed ceiling in the ticket hall.
30. Not good. Sorry to hear. |
"26. I think Ealing Common..."
Yes, Rob, it does. dg writes: fixed thanks. |
25. Enfield Highway Co-operative Society. They had become Enfield & St Albans by the time I worked for them. Memories of Unity Buildings on the Hertford Road and the dairy behind.
|
1. I can see the chalkboard tomorrow morning 'As advertised on Diamond Geezer'
|
15: There are very few more dispiriting words to start the day with than, "With Justin Webb and Nick Robinson."
|
22. I hate the developers even more now I've seen their website. Sloppily written, poorly formatted, they've got the Environment Agency's name wrong and the mock warehouse frame apparently "compliments" the one they demolished despite originally promising to keep. At the last minute they'll probably come up with some excuse not to reinstate anything anyway.

12. All hail the hardy rose!
|
11. I thought the same - we had an amazing games
14. Of course you did!! 17. Nightmare! 19. Agree! 26 That's lovely. Hounslow West used to be my local station as a new working graduate. Shame I never bothered to take note of my surroundings back then! 27. Oooh! I look forward to your write up about the Forgotten Rivers! 29. Intrigued. Hope you are going to reveal more in the coming days! 30 So sorry. |
29. Dammit, now I'm going to be wondering if it was the email I sent... To be immortalised in the unblogged list, I think the sender will be chuffed at the response.

1. Absolutely hate places (and nowadays, transport companies) who price online only prices cheaper...
7. Was the bench stolen? May as well plant a bigger tree now. 9. Wait till you head onto Threads which just seems like an artificial field of positivity! (mixed with Americans pointing out what they found strange on their holiday to Europe which sparks a massive backlash in the comments). 14. I hope you got back to them after realising! They were nice enough to ask (and presumably took a bit of effort to search for the photos!) unlike some... 28. The 'old' Overground signs are being sold off on the LTM website for some eyewatering prices! |
27. Although I think you have mentioned it once I feel no river is more forgotten in London than the River Willmore. However, good to see the Quaggy getting some well deserved attention
|
20. For the over-65s C2C has a day Senior Rover ticket for travel between all C2C stations: £7 from outside of London but includes Upminster and Rainham, so the one to buy if you have a Freedom Pass, and £10 to include travel to all C2C stations within Zones 1-6.
|
29. Trying to remember the last time I got an email from someone I knew rather than an ad or a news headline. Good for you.
30. Sorry. |
6) The Shepherds Bush edition always has a Westfield security car parked outside in a location that seems to be deliberate to thwart decent photos.
7) I've seen a few lacklustre parklets, but there's one outside a primary school in Leytonstone that's been constructed from two parts of a boat, and it looks wonderful. 27) I'm still trying to remember if the Quaggy is a real river or one that AI invented for you |
1) Those places are the worst - I'd (foolishly) be tempted to pay slightly less and argue those prices are clearly rounded to one decimal place.
2) Lovely decoration! 11) The UK will never be able to match the US and China, what with their money and populations. I was actually reading through the blog archives a while back and read your posts on Athens 2004 - the UK has for sure improved in that time and the athletes' efforts should be commended. 20) Again, advertising proves misleading; perhaps there's a large contingent of West Ham fans in Southend though? 31) Fewer betting shops can only be a good thing, in my opinion, even if juice bars/cafes are the replacement. |
Days which have not inspired comment: 3 4 5 8 10 13 18 21 23 24 (the majority have, cheers... ...but after six years that's the fewest comments one of these Unblogged posts has ever received) |
Only just catching up on the monthly 'unblogged'. Without doubt, always my favourite and always worth reading twice as there's always something I miss the first time around. Bravo DG!

27. It would be good if, in the course of creating a Forgotten Rivers route from Borehamwood, TfL could do something about fixing the existing London Loop signage in the vicinity which is in a state of disarray or nonexistence. This seems to be because Ken Livingstone delegated its upkeep to the London Boroughs through which it runs, but no regard was paid to the fact that parts of it are outside Greater London. Herts CC is the rights of way authority for the section between Hatch End and Moat Mount, but claims to have no knowledge of it and accepts no responsibility for its missing or displaced signs, though it is quite good at upkeeping its own.
Incidentally, anyone interested in exploring the vicinity of Borehamwood on foot could do much worse than to consult Teddy's Trails,, published by Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council, which contains 18 bus-based self-guided walks with historical and architectural notes. |
24. St Swithins Day was affected by the Gregorian calendar change and really should be 11 days away.
|
14: I hope you asked why they needed the photos. I worked for a firm that got sued because someone claimed we didn't do our work correctly. Our photos (which we took for every job) showed that we had done the work correctly. I only ask because you should receive compensation for the photos.
