Growing up in Coney Hall, many a happy childhood walk with the dog was taken around the lanes and footpaths of Nash. I've never established where the delightfully named North Pole Lane got its name.

I've just checked my own August 2002. Zero work to do in the office, an outrageously hedonistic (and, erm, educational) London weekend, a horrible comedy club, a pretentious boutique hotel, Patti Smith, trying to work out how to use RSS feeds, Vietnam.

Did you spot the topiary German Shepherd just behind the gate area? You can see a bit of it in your photo. Probably not worth a revisit if not, especially as it's clearly visible on streetview.
