That was fun. The result was not entirely expected.
Don't worry District. The journey may have been longer but you've had more space than the Central and no walking and mountaineering en route.
Love this!
Agreed daveid76, much nicer trains with aircon make up for the speed deficit with the Central.
TfL journey planner recommends your route at 44 to 46 minutes or central at 48.
My figures are based on ‘actually doing it’.
Are you going to repeat in November when it's unlikely to still be a tie?
I could read posts like this all day....well, maybe once a week.
What fun!! Really got caught up in the excitement.
Plus 3 DGs for the price of one - bargain!
Well done all the DGs involved!
You might have done just as well getting the central to Lancaster Gate and walking to Paddington.
I wonder if the District route might have been quicker if you'd taken the first train and changed at Hammersmith (from a Richmond) to the Piccadilly with a view to catching up an Ealing Broadway train at Acton Town
Now we know how dg manages to write so much, it is actually a collective pseudonym.
I don't think there is any certainty that Crossrail will be quicker when trains run through Paddington. It will be if the first train is for Reading or Heathrow. If you have to wait on the platform letting trains terminating at Paddington go before your train arrives it could still be close.
Would Central 2 stops to Liverpool Street and change to Lizzy there be quicker than District 2 stops to Whitechapel and change there?
Now that Crossrail's connected up I can confirm that the new time is 33 minutes, not 42 minutes, which is game-changing.
