I appreciate that count 7 has remained consistent, despite the fateful two and a half hours yesterday between the tragic loss of TK and the joyous arrival of KW.
I just hope that somewhere there is a sealed envelope in which the mystery is stored and can be revealed to posterity.
No job yet? We're looking for 50,000 customs agents. Apply now before those damn foreigners have to do the jobs.
Nick, I hear rumours the answer is in a time capsule buried deep under Bus Stop M.
I drop in most days just to experience the variety, you never know what you are going to find. Keep up the good output. Thanks
Yeah, variety is great, but I'd read for the writing, regardless of the subject matter. Having said that, this blog has introduced me to so many interesting things and expanded my sphere of arcane knowledge considerably. Can't thank you enough dg.
Count 2. You would know what push button posts are that will generate comments, although admittedly at times I am surprised how something goes off.

As I am retired, I have my alarm set to 6.55, time to make coffee and go back to bed and listen to the 7.00am radio news. But I usually wake about 6.30, which is evening time in Europe and I might have a online chat to the cruel Vlad in Bulgaria, or the cute young Jakob in Amsterdam.

Your step count is impressive. I have only walked that many steps through airports when travelling. If I reach 6000 a day, I am happy. I often don't.
Most steps: Feb 6th (Swindon/Avebury)
Most visitors: Feb 12th (sponsored Oyster pads)
Most comments: yesterday (kettle death)
Most words: today (The Count)
Like Sarah, I read your blog for the writing - so many gems, like this morning’s:
“...some days the gradient between sparkling and tedious can be steep.”
There's something reassuring in the consistency of the stats 0 even if the last one remains frustratingly elusive!

I hope that when it finally happens the powers that be declare the 28th Feb to be Diamond Geezer Day and give us all a public holiday!
Maybe the real mystery count is the friends we make along the way
Interesting that most of the data sets are discrete of single numbers. I.e. can't take half a step, comment or a night out.

However sleep is to the nearest 0,.5 unit. And tea includes a decimal places but is always 0.

Mystery count is always 0.0... Not even a 0.1!
I'm forever indebted to you dg for this blog. I moved down south from a northern climb that you have covered on the blog before almost 6 years ago. The stuff you post up, I often go and repeat (not necessarily whole bus lines..) but the not-touristy touristy stuff definitely. It's certainly made the transition to the south a lot easier.
Ps. Is it time for another metric that isn't becks? I always thought the alcohol vs tea ratio was really interesting, but if becks isn't available much these days... what else, alcohol wise, do you drink?
51 cups of tea for me, mostly this colour.
A possible alternative to the Becks tally would be to count alcoholic beverages of any type.

In which case, as a baseline for next year, my February 2020 count has been 5.
Kevin, young whippersnapper. Everyone knows the time capsule was buried within Bow Road station during the renovations.
I'm someone who doesn't live in London and hardly ever visits, and yet here I am every day marvelling at exotic things like bus stop tiles and public transport that at least tries to be integrated. As others have said it's the quality of the writing and the ability to see something in a place that the rest of us miss.
I love this blog and it's required reading for me every day.

Please keep up the good work DG.
Yes, thanks, but any more thoughts on the actual counts?
Count 9 - I feel your pain - I average around 10,000 steps a day due to walking to work but it never seems to shift the pounds. Must be even more disappointing for you given count 6 is so low.

Count 8 - I am amazed you only have heard the see it say it sort it 33 times - I seem to hear it 4/5 times every train trip I make but then most of those are not national rail and fortunately the underground does not play that message on board its trains.

Count 10 - are you disappointed or relieved that the mystery count is zero or have you given up being bothered about it?

Count 7 - I used to average double figures in my tea intake so split it now between herbal and normal.

I trust count 1 is just a one off blip and doesnt constitute the beginning of a newspaper like decline in readership. How do the other year on year monthly comparisons work out?

All the best for another year of contents before the next count.
...scrolled straight to the bottom ...and, no surprise: 0. the fact in would have been 0 in January and December can only mean one thing. it'll be 0 in March and April also
Using Beck's as a metric for alcohol intake nowadays is a bit like using corona as a measure for fizzy drink intake.
I like to think that the mystery count being zero is a good thing - perhaps it counts "number of times stubbed toe" or "number of times cut finger making dinner".
I don't visit DG every day but I read pretty much every post - today I'm catching up on the last 3 because I've been away from home - and I love the huge range of topics. Best wishes and please keep writing!
I'd be interested to see what the mystery count has been for every year of life, could be very revealing...
