As I do not do Christmas it makes no difference to me.
I know Twickenham had its lights turned on a couple of weeks ago with live reindeer and camels involved.
I must admit I do most of my shopping on line noways but that is because in the winter I stay in more.
I think if the time comes that you can order on line and get delivery the same day, on line shopping will overtake town centre shopping, and traditional town centres with shops will just be a memory.
The large shopping malls will survive as it seems many people go to them for a day out, as a form of entertainment and enjoyment. It takes all sorts!.
Ho ho ho! Very funny,DG! 😂😂
I do like a good chuckle, especially when facing a day of putting up the christmas decorations. 😳
Does it say something that I misread the Dagenham entry as a 'lager and tinsel hideaway'?
I misread Mitcham as 'Mitcham Misery Trail', I think I'm channeling my inner prejudices.
Angels we have heard on high.
Tell us to go out and buy!
Genuine belly laughs at the Sidcup Park Grotto. :-)
Hold on, isn't there another Saturday before Xmas Day?
What about our deprived area of Elm Park?
Excellent! A good chuckle on a miserably damp Saturday morning!

I, for one, avoid all retail opportunities at weekends in December, and altogether once the schools break up, but these delights might just tempt me out!!
Thank you for reminding me I've got to venture out into the middle of all this bolleau this afternoon.
Not to go Christmas shopping I assure you.
Bah humbug!
@ Alan Green

Indeed, though it being Christmas Eve it most likely less busy...
All these places within the M25 are behind the times. Hot Cross Buns are now on sale at Lidl in Taunton.
As a german i love that you write "glühwein" with umlaut.
