It's quite a surprise to see a crossover between my favourite English blog and my favoirite American cartoon.
Back in the 70s a fair amount of Seven Kings Water was also visible around Seven Kings High Road and Green Lane. Can just about remember it before it was covered over.
I walked pretty much that same route just over 20 years ago. It's interesting to see how little has changed. The grim footbridge seems a bit grimmer now.

I was recently over at Maysbrook Park trying to see if I could catch the new flood relief area in action. It was a bit damp, but nothing spectacular - probably a good thing.
Funny old thing - my son and I went to watch Hassocks FC play Loxford yesterday in the Southern Combination Premier. The Sussex side came from 1-2 down to win 6-2 at The Beacon, their rather picturesque ground at the foot of the South Downs.
"urban village"

*vomits noisily*
Given that the site is literally an abandoned retail park at the moment, I don't think the Abbey Quays development will "kill" Barking. People do need somewhere to live.
