Well those are the facts, people need to start paying attention and asking what they can personally do to help stop climate change.
and, as hose sdtats show, the temperature has never before reached 35C as early as the 18th July (previous record was 25th, in 2019).

(by the way, had it already reached 35C by 7am today, or is that an educated guess?)
I gave up using a car 10 years ago and cannot afford an electric one. I bicycle local journeys, public transport others
Four years ago I had air-conditioning fitted in my house and it has been very pleasant during the summers, they can work in reverse and function as heating in the Winter some sort of heat pump exchanger. I think more efficient than many gas boilers
Retrofit air-con/heat pump (for heating). Can be very effective and efficient, sadly also often very ugly in the rooms.

Heat only heat pump installation are a major refit project for most builtdings, very disruptive, and require the building to have good insulation to start with
Scary stats - especially that last one. And yet it's STILL only lip service, rather than action being taken around the world.

Rather surprised that 2019 broke so many records as I didn't think it was on the same scale as the prolonged heat and drought of early summer 2018.

In the words of Frazer; "We're doomed!"
Timbo: not by 7am, but it had by 11am (36.1C)
Hampstead’s temperature has just exceeded yesterday’s maximum of 36.8C, but four hours earlier in the day, and still climbing.
I am of the opinion that the inhabitants of this world cannot control the climate in any big way, the Earth will continue to swing between ice cold and sweltering, just as it has done for millennia. However, I also believe that there are too many souls on this Earth, all wanting to live life their way to even try and make much difference.
40c at Heathrow now reported only two miles from my home.

Still plenty of people denying climate change on social media based on rose tinted anecdotes from the 1976 heatwave

I ran a weather station at Epping from 1979-2013. The earliest '30.0C day' I recorded was 32.1C on 27/5/2005.

The link to the Epping pages is on the bottom line of my current homepage.
