Dorich House is in Kingston, not Richmond. Definitely worth a visit. 65 bus recommended.
I even checked that on a map before I posted, and still got it wrong. Fixed, thanks.
You are not the only one getting things wrong! Should be 85 bus...
Doric House is brilliant, however as it is open all year long why highlight it for Open Day?

I've been conned before on Open Day turning up for something that I could have visited any time.
Founders Hall - well there you go, perhaps an example of where a term in the English language was frozen in time and the word itself took on other more prominent meanings, although it's still about the creation of something.

Welding bells - the thinking now is that it's more important to retain the original rather than replace it.
So 1 Quality Court was open then. When I arrived and the building looked closed with nothing happening, I left again grumbling to myself thinking this was another of the Queen related cancellations that hadn't made it to the website.

I hadn't realised it was the first year Founders Hall had opened. I thougth it had a really lovely feel to it and I agree you learnt a lot from chatting with the people there.
You know you are an Architectural History Nerd when you see the caption "Goldfinger!" and the first word that comes to mind is "Erno" and not "Bond-Villain"
The ex-Whitechapel people should perhaps be a little less negative about the Grayson Perry bell. It may well be just art but part of the aim according to the Factum Foundation website is to "support traditional bell-making and ensure the continuity of the same artisanal skills that have been practiced continuously in Whitechapel".
I'm pretty sure the lamp-post outside that Fitzrovia is concrete under that coat of paint. I wonder if anyone realises - most have been removed for safety reasons, but if painted they can get missed as it's assumed they're metal.
