Looking over the list of potential replacements, I hear the recent words of Conservative MP Charles Walker echoing in my mind:
"I've had enough of talentless people.."
Thanks for this; it's quite clear to see when "peak U-turn" was...
Bookies' odds are heavily biased by what people are actually betting on. Boris has too many enemies to get the support from MPs that's needed. I even question whether Sunak has too many enemies to pull it off. Especially if the Conservative Membership is being "consulted" - they seem to dislike him. I suspect the odds are actually in favour of Mourdaunt, being someone who hasn't had the time or position to make enemies and mistakes that would alienate her support.

I wish Truss had stayed on. Easy Labour landslide. Someone else might make them look credible in 2 years' time.
One day this will be funny, but that days seems some way off as far as I'm concerned.

To give a little context, a general election in 2022 is currently about 6-1, so less likely than Mordaunt, but a 2023 election is currently priced at 9/4. Fingers crossed.
So many u turns I make that 6½ full circles ... though 6½ turns of a downward spiral might be a more apt description.
I liked the comment that said that in six weeks she buried The Queen, the Tories and the Pound.
One additional potential U-turn in the tax announcements. The proposal to repeal the latest changes to the IR35 regulations for people who work as independent contractors.

The changes have been much reviled in the tech and consulting world, as, from a taxation point of view it taxes some kinds of contractors as if there were employees but without the job security of being an employee, and significantly reduced flexibility and availability of key resources for larger projects. Tradespeople usually not in scope although they can be.
Having a Prime Minister and monarch with he same name seems to be a bad move - possibly an illustration of the Pauli exclusion principle?

George IV and George Canning - PM lasted less than 4 months as PM

William IV and William Lamb - King died whilst namesake PM in office

Elizabeth II and Elizabeth Truss - Queen died whilst namesake PM in office, AND PM lasted less than two months
Timbo, luckily Charles Walker (quoted above) doesn't want the job!
I have Queen's 'Another One Bites the Dust' as a constant earworm at the moment!!
In the past I used to snigger at other countries that could get through leaders at a rapid rate. Italy springs to mind, with a revolving door of prime ministers. Or Belgium, that effectively had no government, for what - nearly a year.

Now it's our turn.

I'm certain the Europeans and many other parts of the world are having a good snigger at our ongoing predicament - with our 'best democracy in the world' line, now looking rather thin.
I’m sure the result of the frenzied scramble to elect a replacement PM will be Sunak. I despair of the thought of having to endure that sneaky scheming little weasel in a position of power whereby he can tailor things to his financial advantage (as if he isn’t rich enough already.)
A pity she's gone.

Given the list of what was left to her to change tack on, in another week she would have made a U-turn on Brexit.
The intended reinstatement (and reversal) of VAT-free shopping for tourists was another U-Turn.

With none of the names mentioned so far seeming to have any chance of uniting the Tory party, I wonder if one the old guard will step forward in the next couple of days. Gove is keeping himself very quiet but personally I'd like to see the Theresa May redemption comeback.
Liz Truss is set to draw up a resignation honours list - despite only having been in the job for six weeks, the Telegraph can disclose
If we got Boris again, would 2022 still be the year of Three Prime Ministers?
Hunt cancelling the abolition of IR35 that was announced at the mini-Budget by Kwarteng was a u-turn.
Truss was elected exactly because Sunak was so discredited. And China endorsed Sunak. Having him at the front unsettles me.
The ‘basic rate of income tax will fall’ U-turn was on the 17th, not the 14th.
