Hmm. Early-ish start, est 1.5hr journey for a sensible arrival time. Wild stab in the dark/left-field guess - Manningtree?
I'm guessing you're on the 07:01 from St Pancras to Paris Nord
Although I know you’ve been before, any chance you’re on the new direct service to Blackpool?
I'm also thinking somewhere not too near. Who'd want to arrive in Southend at 8 in the morning? (Probably dg 🤔).

I've long wanted to visit Manningtree and walk to Harwich then take the ferry to Felixstowe but suspect this is probably not dg's day trip. Enjoy anyrate.
Missing the flypast today? Or going to watch from somewhere in Essex?
Nottingham,Southwell, Lincoln?

Ravenglass, Carlisle?
I'm so used to the tweets of Simon from the Big Green Bookshop that 0701 looks wrong, and should be "I am in a train".
Whoopee, a day trip!
Hadders, you're the only one talking sense! Obviously not in the UK as it is not yet 9am.
On a Eurostar to experience the World Cup semi-final in France / Belgium?
Trip to Roubaix/Kortrijk on the French/Belgian border?
Can't belive you're not going to be watching the flypast from the Olympic Park.
enjoy
Hope you're going to Lille, I'm going there this weekend for le tour.
Metro and accordion .. So it must be Paris
Ooh la la! Have a bonne jour!
(yeah. I completely slayed my French O level!)
Not the flypast then.

Stage 4 of the Tour de France today is from La Baule to Sarzeau, in Brittany, so I doubt it is that.

A few days early for Bastille Day. Perhaps Mr Churchill is right: World Cup fever in Paris. And/or Paris Plages?
Ah, sounds like Le Corbusier.
Paris's Promenade Plantée?

Regards
Ah, the Rodin Museum.

Sorry you missed the flypast. It was more than ace :)
I booked these train tickets too long ago.
I'm sorry about your pictogram mortification. But let's hope that the whole world can soon do away with messy urinals (and long queues of women, and various other problems), and move to the obvious solution of rows of gender-neutral toilets.

Indeed I'm so certain that we'll all want to discuss gender-neutral toilets, that I'd be obliged if DG would set up a special comment thread especially for that debate.

The sparkling water fountains in Paris I have yet to try. Look forward to your report.
At least they are not short of CO2.
Other disused railway: Petite Ceinture, perhaps.
Perhaps the fizzy water fountain is near le arret de bus M.
Hope you took votre appareil photo DG !
It seems strange that Paris once had a ring railway and abandoned it, while London has been trying with the Overground to establish an orbital line.
Looking forward to the details of your day out.
14 metros? 2 more & you might have been on every line. Never mind...
I can't recall if The Thinker is actually in the Rodin Museum. I do hope you went there but a cultured chap such as yourself would have needed to make a morning/afternoon of it and you obviously didn't have time to do that. Next time perhaps, it's well worth it!
This is a comment from under the English Channel, just because (somehow) I can.
Don't blame you Mr Geezer. It's got to be done.

The first time I saw a phone on a plane was in the States in the mid-80s. I had to do it. I called my mum to tell her I was speaking to her from a steel tube 35,000 feet over the U.S. mid-west.

She was out shopping so Dad said he would pass the message on....
Perfect timing DG, I'm having one too!
00:00 I am adding four photos.
Too many uses of the first-person singular, Geezer. See me after school.
I once watched a thunderstorm from the science museum near that big silver orb, and made several futile attempts to capture forked lightning reflecting in it with an analogue compact camera.
Does the Rodin Museum in Paris had a cast of The Thinker? Well...

They also have a cast of the Gates of Hell, with The Thinker in the panel above the doors. (Admittedly, it was completed after Rodin's death, but still in some sense considered to be an authentic original.)

The photo that DG has added shows the cast of Rodin's Monument to Balzac, at the Varenne Metro station. I believe there is a cast of The Thinker there too, so he may have been just passing through on the underground rather than at the museum.
