The hearse travels not far from my home on Monday en route to Windsor, if the weather is fair I may go up the road and take a look, I did so for the Queens Mother
The plane from Edinburgh flew low almost above my house as it landed at Northolt, so I have felt no inclination to join a queue.
I was in Salisbury and Romsey on Thursday and Friday, and overheard lots of people saying that they’d have loved to come up to London for the lying-in-state, but thought it was all too difficult and complicated. So it may be not so much that middle England was slow to wake up to this, more that they were scared off by the daunting prospect of going to another city and queuing for hours and hours. There were queues to sign books of condolence in both Salisbury Cathedral and Romsey Abbey, but these took minutes rather than hours.
Of course they don't have to go to work. What kind of job could someone who'd line up for hours to spend 5 seconds walking slowly past a box be capable of?
International footballer?
I was impressed that David Beckham joined The Queue rather than pull the VIP card like Theresa May probably did!

I might join the A4 in Hounslow on Monday, but as I was there only yesterday I might just enjoy a well-earned day off and do some rather neglected cleaning at home instead!
According to some reports (with pictures) Theresa May did not pull the VIP card.
I live in Hammersmith and the A4 is only a 3 minute walk away, so thought I would walk up and see the procession pass. Though out for a walk today noted that they have put a number of portaloos in Furnival Gardens, so obviously the council are thinking of there being quite large crowds. I might not get anywhere close.
Patrickov That's good to hear. Thanks.
I heard a report that at least one person has been paying their respect and then joining the back of the queue and going round again, many times.

There is video that shows Theresa May and her husband coming from the side and joining near the front of the queue on the steps in Westminster Hall.
The secret services would never have allowed a former PM to queue for 12 hours with the public, even if she’d wanted to.

All this “ooh they didn’t queue properly” stuff feels depressingly petty.
I’ve not queued, apart from the checkout at Lidl yesterday. Up In The north west and with the travel chaos no point .
