DG-not the Crane, the River Brent.
Wouldn’t a house by the River Crane have been a bit far from the land granted to Mr Reade? It seems Mary Reade settled for second-best, by the Brent.
When reporting an error (fixed, sorry)
please use method 1 (telling me)
not method 2 (asking me).
If you ever do a gad about to Conway in North Wales, do visit Plas Mawr for a similar experience of a fine restored of a similar period and history.

Cadw, not local council, but otherwise similar.
When I was walking there last year the house and gardens were a mess with the work ongoing, added to by the bridge across the Brent being closed (still, I think). Hopefully I will now visit again now it is open. Thanks for the insight.
Thank you!
Oooh, an interesting place with a nice tea room to cycle to along the canal. That's a day out sorted thanks!

Given the house's history, I love its What Three Words location of gather.royal.chef.
Great - it's now on my list for a future visit! This did get me wondering how old the manor house was that Manor House station was named after though. Apparently named after a pub, says Mr Google, and not an actual house at all.
Must check that out. Yes, the M4 is particularly intrusive in that section
Purists will tell you that the apricot Danish is an abomination invented by the British!

Apricot isn't used in classic Danish pastries. The traditional fillings are raspberry jam, custard(ish), stewed apple, or cinnamon. They are usually covered in acres of icing (plain or chocolate), but "pearl sugar" is used on some variants. Less sweet versions (think croissant with a twist) are covered with poppy seed.
The area underneath that motorway (and indeed the whole of Boston Manor Park) is a terrific place for a rave (aka Junction 2 festival last month)!!
One concern locally is that the fascinating space under the elevated M4 is increasing being hired out for pop concerts, if not raves, which disturbs local residents and restricts access some of the park, which also gets damaged by vehicles coming and going, though I suppose this raises funds for the council, probably needed to pay for all the house restoration. We have the same issue in nearby Gunnersbury Park, which is also increasingly booked out to pop concerts and other open air events, bringing in an income but keeping out the locals.
Goodness me, how dare any events be allowed that enable people to have fun. Nothing fun must ever be allowed lest it distrust the lives of “local residents”.

Or maybe go to the parks one of the, say, 45+ weekends of the year that they are freely accessible to all??
Am I the only idiot who thought this was going to be about Mansion House?
I’m a very local resident and can say that I wasn’t disturbed at all by the festivals. Personal opinion was that a little bit of extra traffic for a couple of days and some wonderful sights of ravers walking along the roads from the tube station was well worth it for the funds generated.

Great write up.
