I think Helch and Silent Monkey must be the same "artist" judging from the identical fonts used in their painting.
Helch is responsible for painting over "Give Peas a Chance", which for several years adorned the southern side of the Chiltern main line viaduct over the M25. |
I love the way the lamppost divides that photograph. A beautiful shot that reminded me of the joys of Spring.

A very interesting, though probably typical if we took the time to look around, day.
Vomitman - God loves a sinner. |
Why do illiterates (ie those who don't know what "comprise" means) write planning notices?
|
The Flibco buses threw me when I started seeing them at Stratford, and thought they were a Flixbus knock-off. Turns out they're actually the older company.
I also saw a Flixbus coach to Leeds there one morning with an N at the start of its route number, which seemed like an odd time of day for a night bus. Turns out it started in Amsterdam the previous night. |
I do hope they do something about those horrid railings around the Whittington cat. They obscure the statue so much.
|
A lot of posties seem to wear shorts all the year round, whatever the weather. Can't understand it myself.
|
and then I'm happy for the rest of the day, safe in the knowledge there will always be a bit of my heart devoted to it

I'd like to think that the brown corduroy jacket was paired with the brown corduroy trousers.
Didn't know that t-shirts could have eyes, let alone funny ones. |
I like to think that Vomitman was going into the church to give his first sermon. Pre-performance nerves :-)
There is however no excuse for reading the Mail On Sunday in a public place. |
We're 10 comments in and nobody triggered by "Notts Forest" - well done everyone, not falling for DG's bait. :)
|
Phil J - consider me triggered. Sorry to be so predictable!

Prince of Wales Road for the wisteria/ footballers innit?
|
I'm intrigued by the pressure guage...
|
I'd always thought Helch was responsible for painting "Give Peas a Chance", one of the few bits of graffiti I actually liked. The viaduct was disfigured far more by some insensitively-executed changes to the parapet brickwork. If THC is correct I've gone off Helch.

As you say you 'saw' these things, I cannot imagine what is visually recognisable about a man trying to get three buses to Cheshunt.

A fun post.
I feel vomit and religion go together, purging of the soul. FFS, it was only Tottenham, the Liverpool fan was right, with relegation also decided - something becoming routine now, the Premier League is now over with four games left to play. At least Liverpool fans can celebrate properly this year. When did 'cocktail in a can' become a thing? The planning notice for the cat indicates a lack of planning, the 'authorities' put up railings with the intension of protecting a whatever lump of stone, then in the 1960s someone sticks a cat on top of it. Anyone reading a 'paid for' paper product in public is rare now. Picture of the wisteria, looking at the windows on the ground floor - was this a former shop? |
Regarding rogergh's comment....
My local postie told me that he wears shorts all the year because he prefers not to have wet and clingy trousers round his calves during a rainy round. He reckons his legs dry faster than material. |
Cat and railings long overdue a spruce up.

Reasons to be cheerful, 1, 2, er, 73

Flibco replaces the erstwhile Airport Bus Express, operating alongside National Express.
Two international Flixbus routes call at Stratford: Leeds - Amsterdam, and Manchester - Paris. Several more start from Victoria Coach Station. These cross the Channel by Eurotunnel, P&O, Irish Ferries or DFDS scheduled on different days. The tunnel is an hour faster and lets you sleep through overnight, though on daytime coaches the ferry crossing is often very scenic especially with sunrise or sunset over the Channel. |
I read this whole post to the tune of Everything is Romantic by Charli XCX
|
Lots of 'Helch' graffiti around Chalfonts and M25 j16 to j14 etc.
|
I like the railings round the cat - always been there as far back as i can remember - could do with a lick of paint though
|
Were the twins kissing each other?
|
Yes.
