One more tip. If you are using White Post Lane you can get there via a lovely walk or cycle along the Lee Navigation canal from Clapton or Bow.

Has there been any announcement yet on where the other QEOP entrances will be? How will the park connect to Hackney Marshes at it's northern tip?
Yes, those photos are great - thanks.
(And I agree, the new flickr is maddening....)
I spotted something on your photo of a park map

There will be a path called "Lea Way" which will presumably link up with the Hackney marsh paths at the north.

Also, is that a new footbridge from Hackney Wick station (Wallis bridge)?
Is this:

The same view as this?

I'd love to see more pre vs during vs post Olympic park shots.
Good article and pics.

The link you give for the 588 bus points to the TfL map which shows all the bus stops. Fine except that - presumably because it's out of date - the map shows no stops between "Westfield Avenue" (apparently near last year's security gates) and the other side of the A12.

The map does however make it clear that the 588's version of Hackney Wick is nowhere near the thus-named station.

What are they doing with the area round the Orbit and Stadium? Why can't we go there?
Final top tip:

If you have a smart phone, while exploring the QEOP load up Google Maps on satellite view. This still shows the park as it was around the time of the Olympics.

GPS makes it fascinating to compare.
@Malcolm

Some of the hardstanding in that area will be replaced by grassland/trees/etc. Its conversion only begun in earnest 2 months ago.

Easter 2014 should mark the re-opening of that area (as the South Plaza), as well as:
* Canal Park
* Carpenters Road/Lock
* Hockey and Tennis Centre
* VeloPark
* New DLR station at Pudding Mill Lane
I went to the stadium on Sunday and tried to find out about going by bike - no response from London Legacy at all...I notice the park website fails to mention cycling as a mode of transport - seeing the group of cyclists on the Hackney Wick access I wonder if you are not allowed to take bikes in - or if you are you have to walk bikes. I guess I will have to pay a visit to find out.
Interesting blogs - cheers.
There's plenty of cycle parking outside the Copper Box, and you're allowed to cycle (considerately) around the park.

You do have to walk you bike in from Hackney Wick - security are on hand to enforce this bonkers rule. But cycle from Stratford or Hackney Marshes and you shouldn't have any trouble at all.
Love the blog - keep up the good work. I was just wondering if you spotted which road entrances/exits were open during your wanderings. I'm specifically thinking about the Temple Mills Lane entrance, which would enable me to ride through the park on the bike.

dg writes: No, not yet, not this year. The road entrance near Hackney Marshes is open, though.

Agree about the bonkers "get off your bike" rule at the White Post Lane entrance. When asked why they were telling people to walk their bikes along 250m of completely unoccupied tarmac road, security shrugged and muttered something about safety.

I pointed out at this point that I'd just ridden several miles through central London and that this was probably the safest stretch of road in the whole journey! Sigh.

OK a couple of days late but hey others may look at old comments too.
You can compare the Olympics-time olympic satellite image/map with the pre-olympics development if you go to http://www.flashearth.com/, zoom in to the London olympic park and choose as a map source "yahoo maps" (which is old, not the current one) and you can compare the park with old satellite imagery pre olympic development.
