So, yet more cameras, for Susan Hall's facial recognition technology, or will she just use the ULEZ ones that are left over after she's scrapped that?
As I recall Susan Hall's response to the storming of the Capitol building by Trump supporters was to equate them with Remain politicians and supporters.
I welcome the extension of ULEZ to all London
I'd like to see more LTNs, and 'Safer With Susan' doesn't seem to include your lungs...
I wonder at how anyone would consider voting for anybody from such a throughly discredited organisation.
Assuming the change to FPTP will not lead to splitting the Green/Lib Dem votes with Labour, and letting the Conservatives through the middle, I do wonder what defeat will mean for the Conservatives.

They have (2008 and 2012 aside), comprehensively failed since 2000 to win in the capital. Despite what they say about success elsewhere, I reckon they would need to tilt (in London at least) to the left. Or at the very least, not the right.
I work in London but live outside, so don’t get to vote on this, but looking from the outside it seems to me the result might depend on quite how (un)popular ULEZ actually is.

Going past the blue rosette and the platitudinous policies - more police! more houses! more traffic! - do any of these candidates have enough name recognition to pose a serious challenge to the incumbent?
The Burghers of Bromley, et al, can be a formidable force when their CO2 emissions are threatened; aeons ago, they scuppered Livingstone’s “Fares Fair” initiative, long before getting Johnson elected as Mayor. If Susan Hall is chosen as the blue-in-tooth-and-claw candidate, expect mass mobilisation of the propaganda machines (within the electoral rules, naturally…) in every Tory-controlled OLB. It worked for Johnson.
Given the extended ULEZ will have existed for some 9 months by the time of the election, campaigning to get rid of it will have little effect. The people seriously affected will have already replaced their vehicles. I can't believe daily commuters will simply pay the charge.
A large majority of people aren't affected by ULEZ and don't care a whit. Much like with LTNs, quite a lot of attention is being paid to relatively few people. The end result in local elections was that almost every council that made LTNs their one big issue was voted out. I wonder if ULEZ will end up being the same sort of thing. The vocal people get all the attention, but they still only have one vote each.
Neither have the charisma to beat Sadiq, you need broad electoral appeal to win in what is a majority Labour city. Especially against a candidate who's unimpressive, but hasn't done anything majorly wrong.

All politicians like playing the housing card in general statements, but when it comes to actual developments become much more cautious, as they know how divisive the issue can be.
The outer London ULEZ expansion is if anything more of a problem for those who live just OUTSIDE London, but need to travel in, as they'll get no help.

But they won't be voting...
How about Johnson standing as an Independent just as Livingstone did?
The reintroduction of First Past the Post in the Tories' Election Act is going to be a problem for Labour and all third parties. Regardless, I'm looking forward to the Count Binfaces and YouTubers.
"Tory mayoral hopeful Daniel Korski vows to explore plans to TURN OFF red lights in London between 10pm and 7am to speed up traffic and scrap 20mph limits as he looks to overturn Sadiq Khan's 'irrational' road policies" - An article from last month.
Daniel's emitting major Elon-esque crypto bro vibes.
What a sorry bunch of Tory Grifters. Will they never learn?
Shaun Bailey who had zero name recognition came within 5 percentage points of Sadiq Khan in the first round last time doing a lot better than expected.
Not better than expected based on this video.
Thank you dg, and I did recall it from when it was first posted in 2020.

dg writes: I retweeted that marvellous video on Friday when Shaun was made a Lord…
I see Susan Hall has secured the coveted tinfoil hat endorsement, despite pledging to literally Big Brother the populace with her facial recognition cameras.
Two weeks later and Daniel Korski has withdrawn from the contest following accusations of inappropriate behaviour.

So it's either Susan or Mozammel.
So it's Susan.
DG - I thank you for returning to this to comment & update, the first thought I had on reading of Mr Korski's pulling out was to come back and review this post to remind myself of the candidates!
