You having trouble sleeping, DG?
no, apparently his computer does it for him while he's asleep, modern technology is clever like that
As always DG a very informative piece from your pen, or should I say, from your fingers. I'm sitting here wondering how long it takes to research and stitch together your blog. Trying to imagine the time you must have to spend finding the numerous links you provide, to the obscure and not so obscure. Thinking about the writing itself where your observant eye for details, big and small, allow you to describe London as it is. All done with a sense of humour and it's every day. I'm impressed.
That was certainly a more varied and interesting railway line walk than the average. I barely know this stretch of the Underground at all, but now I'm tempted to do the walk myself. I think it might be nicer starting from the concrete jungle and finishing in Hammersmith, though.
I agree with Swirlythingy. The line from Paddington to Hammersmith has a reputation for being one of the dowdier stretches of the underground so it's good to know it passes lots of places of interest. At the very least, the next time my wife drags me to Westfields I'll make sure we have lunch on Goldhawk Road.

I'm not sure how useful or practical it would be, but, for the sake of completeness if nothing else, I've occasionally wondered about the possibility of building an interchange between the Overground and the H and C; I'm assuming that if Westfields didn't think it was worth the effort it won't be happening anytime soon.

And finally I've always been intrigued by the origins of the name Goldhawk but can't find anything on google.
All very interesting, of course.

You mention how local people have used the space under the Westway. A lot of work was done by a group established in the 1970's now called Westway Development Trust.
