Looking forward to your walks, I just spent yesterday re-reading your most excellent Fleet report.

Just wanted to say how much I appreciate your excellent work.

One part of the upper Westbourne goes down Heath Drive, meets Finchley Road, crosses to Cannon Hill and follows it down to West End (renamed West Hampstead once the name of the Westminster shopping district became popular). The main Finchley Road rises from Swiss Cottage to the start of the Hendon Way, but dips for one junction where it meets Heath Drive and Cannon Hill.

During the serious storm of 1975, the shape of the land caused the route of the Westbourne here to flood, with 2-3 feet of fast running water streaming down the centre of the road.

Hampstead has West End, North End and South End but no East End.

Wow, my local hidden river. Looking forward to read your posts.

My parents have a tendency for doing the unusual, and a few years ago went on a guided tour of one of the sewers.
Seeing as the Westbourne seems to be fairly accessible, I must ask them if this was the one they explored.
