Good compression. But what does "/jabbed" mean in the first item?

dg writes: It means it wasn’t good compression.
I understood pinged / jabbed to mean if you've been jabbed and get pinged you don't need to self-isolate, but if you haven't been jabbed and get pinged, you do!
But not having read/seen the news for months now, or ever having downloaded that blasted app, this is only my assumption.
The isolation strategy of Australia and New Zealand isn't looking like such a good idea now, it seemed to remove the urgency to get the vaccination rollout moving and now they have the Delta variant to deal with too.

The booster programme may be needed as early research in the US indicates those vaccinated at the start of the year are at a higher risk than those done later - what they call 'breakthrough' infections.

On top of that the Lambda variant continues to spread from its South America, where in Peru it now the dominant version.
The isolation strategies of Australia and New Zealand would be considered to be a very good idea by all those people whose lives have already been saved by them, together with their relatives.

Sadly, as with most life-saving decisions by governments (from speed limits to not starting wars), it is impossible to put names to the lives that have been saved. But we do know that the benefit is very real.
"Isn't looking like such a good idea now"? What was the alternative? It's not like our shambolic response saved us from the delta either. We've been hit by every single shot this thing has fired. I'll never accept the idea that 150k deaths will ever be reevaluated as a good strategy.

The only mistake NZ has made with their vaccine programme is not being as rich as the U.K.

I should add that NZ is one of the most boring places on Earth, populated almost exclusively by dullards, and I'd still rather be here.
(sigh)
Chris Hipkins, the Covid-19 response minister, said that the arrival of the Delta varient 'does raise some big questions' about New Zealand's pandemic response, he also said that it makes existing protections 'look less adequate', and the arrival of the varient 'changes the game considerably'.
Yes, Delta is a game changer, but New Zealand have been playing a different game quite successfully for a long time.

New Zealand reached 22 COVID deaths on 28 May 2020, and since then they have recorded four more deaths - three in September 2020, and the latest on 16 February 2021.

It is a country of about 5 million people, so multiply by about 12 or 13 to get a direct comparison to the UK.

Total UK COVID deaths might be around 300 if we had been as successful at managing the pandemic as them.

Since 16 February there have been 11,000 COVID deaths in the UK. Whether you look at the UK death toll via 28 days of a positive test or death certificates, we are currently adding about 100 more each day.

Let's see what September brings, when schools reopen.
