Thank you for the Christmas present idea heads-up!
Woolwich always surprises me that they never were consulted before they built flats, just seems like a lot of unnecessary work.

Regarding the trainers.... i think its a dreadful. Even if you love the tube would you really spend money on tube trainers.... or is that not the point?
Although Tfl are now saying Autumn 1919, they have also thrown in the word "initially" to describe a period during which trains will only run between Abbey Wood and Paddington. We don't know how long "initially" will last, and when the line will actually open properly.
I've been looking back at your Crossrail archive. Quite a collection there, many posted on the 9th of the month - one year to go, six months, five months, etc - and then your anticipatory post with 100 days to go on 31 August. Is there a list somewhere bringing them all together for ease of browsing, or perhaps we need to wait for the opening?

@ Bruce Wayne "would you really spend money on tube trainers" ... DG has already emphasised that you're NOT the target audience, and anyway don't you have Christmas presents to buy
Buy your Crossrail trainers now...
... because it's quicker to walk
If it opens before 2024 they will be doing better than Berlin Airport, six years waiting and still no promised opening date.
Don't worry all will be well.
@RogerW - Hahaha! Well played!

I'm not sure which is more bizarre - the thought of TfL trainers (how much??!) or that Adidas went ahead with the launch anyway! Talk about a damp squib launch!
Damp squib, it is not. The TfL collections have sold out very quickly so far, with the first drop disappearing within hours. I was sadly unlucky.
I'd much, much rather TfL make commercial money by sticking their logos on other people's products than plastering sponsors' names and logos on their own property.
Is it bad that I'm envisioning Geoff wearing those shoes?
I think they missed a trick by not having 'Crossrail' on the back of one shoe and "Elizabeth Line" on the other.
They did the same with Jubilee line extension.
Earliest hoardings stated Autumn 1997. Reality May 1999 (Stratford to NoG, driven by the millennium 2000, coz Blair HAD to be at The Dome.
"celebrate the opening of the Elizabeth Line, London's newest Underground line"

And further proof that the name "Elizabeth Line" makes it seem like a new Underground line rather than a different mode
Alternatively, maybe the purple trainers were released early on Saturday to avoid the ghastly news about Crossrail on Monday.
Why do I have a sneaking idea that you had an inkling about today's (10/12) announcement?!
10th December 2018: Mayor confirms intended start date was indeed 9th December 2018.

Also: Project delayed until at least 2020, thanks to stations, tunnelling, software and signalling. Meh.

Also: Nobody's been calling it the Elizabeth Line today.
