My mind was on postcodes so "the scar of HS2" felt particularly incongruous.
Have been tantalisingly close a few times, but don't think I have ever entered the London bit of WD3. Nice bit of country that up there, though.
Pretty sure Hill End is UB9, not HA9.

You could say that the HS2 work is surgery in progress rather than a permanent blot on the landscape. Once finished I think the scar will be rather less obvious than that left by the M25 carving through the same area. HS2 is though taking so long to build that the disruption is unfortunately going to be an issue for many years yet.
In my neighbourhood once again and I missed you, plenty of other local information around the lanes you walked if you ever want a guided tour. UB9 by the way.
Agree with other comments, you twice refer to HA9 in the article, but it's UB9
Lots of nice walks in that area, though the last time I walked the Grand Union from Rickmansworth to Uxbridge event the 'all-weather' towpath was flooded and wellies or a lengthy detour was needed!
The more I look at the London boundary there, the less it makes sense! It would be more logical if the Grand Union Canal for that area was the London boundary, indeed even the Hillingdon Trail ends next to the canal, rather than the actual end of the borough...
What a contrast today's limpid lyricism is to the relentless rhythm of yesterday's post! To me that "fortified red-brick pile" looks like a facsimile of something that might have previously been on the same site.
Hill End may no longer have a pub but apparently it does have a rather nice coffee shop, and since I'm not allowed to mix alcohol and medication at the moment, that would do me.
Mitchell's Village Kitchen is weekends only and hasn't yet reopened for the summer.

Also I don't know if anyone's noticed but Harefield is UB9, not HA9. Fixed, thanks.
Reader's note: if the Hillingdon trail extended to Cranbrook it would be rather more than 20 miles! Cranford marks the borough's southern extremity.

“tall chunky blocks pretending to be mills”

Dense Sprawl.
The part of Springwell Lane from Uxbridge Road to the canal is now a strange indent on the ULEZ map, because cars can't turn around before the canal bridge they've set the boundary there instead!
