Just out of interest, I wonder what proportion of people taking the tube on an average weekday in Zone 1 are British citizens. There will obviously be a lot of tourists, but some of them will be from other parts of the UK. And a lot of commuters working in the city will not be British either.

In the first four weeks of 'June 2013',
141628 passengers.
Both periods include one half term week, and should therefore be broadly comparable.

That's a 20% fall in ridership, even though June has longer hours, and better weather, and you'd expect there to be more tourists.

Inexorable decline in usage?

Love what you’ve written, worth the potential subscription alone should that happen! Anyway, I’m trying to come up with something as witty as your comments for possibly a subject you’ve not reported on - P.E. (Physical Education/Sport) and for that I’m afraid, sadly, I’m going to have to rate Emmy-Rae with an “F” for "Fail" as “Although Emmy-Rae is a willing participant when the weather is fine, she absolutely refuses to participate when the weather is slightly inclement”. I’m sure there are possibly a couple of other subjects that could be added to Emmy-Rae’s report?
