Sometimes local authorities and the utilities can be awesome in coordination of works. Sadly, this is far too rare an event and the public are left suffering.
This presumably doesn't qualify as one of the obstacles to growth that the Government is so really keen to overcome.
That's properly nuts on the face of it, but perhaps they checked and found the drain was damaged and needs a bigger repair? And are now arguing about who pays for the repair
The damp patch has shrunk overnight and is now barely any obstacle at all. I expect it’ll fill up again this afternoon when the rain arrives.

Also the cones are now all over the place, so the attempted alternative cycle lane barely exists.
It seems to be a complete mismanagement of project work schedule.

Constructors are working harder every day as if catching up on the schedule of work when they appeared quite relaxed in the first 2 months?
The temporary closure of bus stop M is particularly frustrating as passengers on route 8, which currently terminates at Parnell Road in Old Ford, are then advised to take the 276 or 488 to reach Bow Church, alighting at bus stop M.
Bus Stop M - the gift that keeps on giving.
Not making excuses for failing to fix the flood, but couldn't cyclists cope with fording 'an inch or two' of water.
I'm guessing kev doesn't cycle.
What a PITA
Jon Jones, far too often Thames Water (or similar) set up shop on the road without letting TfL know. The amount of 'unknown roadworks' that NMCC have to organise diversions for is particularly shocking and should really be penalised.

Though it's not on them that even during planned diversions/stop closures TfL don't seem to do dolly stops anymore unless you have particularly vocal local councillors.
Checking the official map of London roadworks, Thames Water's cycle lane closure is due to end on Thursday.
Not much scope to site a Dolly near there with all the cones around.
Lets hope they update the route 8 info when the stop is opened on 30th.
We might think they could just put the dolly stop anywhere, as the buses will be stopping frequently in the queue of traffic, so other drivers won't notice a further delay. But, they can't just put up a dolly stop any more. If the closed bus stop has a raised kerb for wheelchair / pram loading, then the alternative location MUST have one too.
I'm intrigued that given the choice of closing the cycle lane or closing the bus stop, they closed the bus stop.
Anyway, this morning the puddle is as large as I’ve ever seen it BUT the cones have gone, the cycle lane is open and Bus Stop M is open, hurrah.

Back to the splashpool status quo.
Unfortunately 'Sans 8'. If there is any info on TfL site about reinstatement it is well hidden.
With Bus Stop M reopened, the yellow poster claiming route 8 will return on 15th January has been removed.

Sounds good, but there is now no indication that route 8 doesn't stop here, just like there wasn't back in September.
The LLDC works on Westfield Avenue have similarly created a long 388 westbound gap of about a mile between Stratford City Bus Station (Stop W) and the Copper Box.
The fact that Thames Water are involved suggests some deeper problem, because the surface drainage there is TfL's responsibility. If TW are involved it's likely because they think the water is backing up from the main sewer. It's possible the closure was for a camera survey although that's usually a one night job I think.
