Fascinating!
I remember reading about the Carlton Tavern. Wow, that's taken a long time to rebuild!
I really hope you can find a Ho Ho Ho Corner or similar!
Switch voltage?
St Quintin & Wormwood Scrubs is such a boring name for a station (and unduly long).

But North Pole. That would be a cool name (sorry for the pun) if TfL decided to build a new station on the spot.
In a report a few years ago, the local council made a case for re-establishing 'North Pole Station' on that site on the 'new' Overground line. Part of their case, besides the significant population it would serve, was that trains stop there anyway to switch between electrical systems so there would be little extra delay.

In July last year a train full of passengers made use of this non-existent station when they 'self-evacuated' (in the words of the official incident report) from a train that became stuck there when the electrical change-over didn't work.
Switch voltage, like Thameslink at Farringdon, between 750V DC on the third rail and 25kV AC on overhead wires.
I thought that the NLL trains changed voltage on the move instead of stopping - supported by this video.

The changeover takes from 14:05 until 15:47, you can hear power down at 14:33 and the AC kicks in at 14:58.

At 15:32 I think we pass the area where locomotive changes took place (or was it further north?), back when there were still cross county trains via Kensington Olympia, this was also the link with the Great Western Main Line until it was severed so that the alignment could be used for an access road for the new North Pole Depot - back in the day this link was used by 73s hauling coal trains to from the Souuthern Region into Acton Yard.
Overground trains can change over from AC to DC on the move. The Southern trains currently have to stop.
Despite the local council's encouraging 2010 report making the case for a 'new' station, I see minutes of a council meeting earlier this year state that: "There appears to be no appetite from Transport for London for a station at North Pole Road." So there we are.
Trust you are off to Pudding Lane.
So glad to see the Carlton terrace rebuilt. I used to go regularly on a Thursday after playing football there and assumed there was no chance it would get rebuilt.

Well done Westminster CC!
Thank you for the year of blogging DG. It has become part of my life. Who would have thought it?
I'm a bit late answering the suggestion about Ho Ho Ho, but in South Woodford there was, for many years, a very good Chinese restaurant, the Ho Ho. It's now closed and the premises is offices with the name HO HO HOUSE above the main entrance.
I feel it's a rather odd address for an office, despite the historical significance of the name.
