I've had an Art Pass for a decade. The magazine is very glossy, perhaps a bit high-brow for me. Its always nice to have a warm glow when you see an Art Funded sticker. It certainly encourages repeat visits, and I've been to oodles of Cartoon Museum and Mall Gallery exhibitions, and it makes me have a punt on a lot more half-price exhibitions. (Except the Royal Academy, with their stingy £1 off)

You are going to have a busy year.
You might get additional value out of it come the announcement of the Museum of the Year finalists in the summer. Last year, to celebrate their shortlisting, both the Postal Museum and Brooklands Museum offered free entry to AF members.
I'm in my third year of Art Pass.
I came out ahead in year 1 enjoying many visits to disparate places, was broadly level in year 2 (with some repeat visits) but this year I'm definitely a net contributor to the Art Fund!
But I'm surprised that you took the Plus One version.
Can you tell us about the tote bags you have, and have been offered/seen for free/sale?

I like the two from Open House, the Royal Society's red one was better.
If you mange to tick the right boxes based on work, etc you can get an Icom Card. This is similar to an Art Pass, but works internationally.

It's about £80 a year, but I find it worth it.
The Courtauld is now shut for two years for a major refurb!
There's a Museum of Carpet?

dg writes: Yes.
I'd better take the Courtauld Gallery off my list.

The Art Pass listings also include the Geffrye Museum, which is closed throughout 2019, and the Greenwich Heritage Centre, which has closed.
I never knew there was a Heath Robinson Museum!

dg writes: Opened October 2016.
part of the challenge is to remember that the "Art Pass" works in a lot of places that aren't particularly arty !

it definitely encourages me to try things for half price that i wouldn't otherwise bother with ... and not to feel too bad when i'm not overly impressed !!
Membership of the National Trust of Malta costs €20 (or €21 if you pay their credit card processing fee) and allows reciprocal membership of the National Trust for England, Wales and Northern Ireland as well as The National Trust for Scotland.

So that might be worth considering, perhaps next year when your Art Pass membership expires.
Would gladly be a plus one at almost all of those places!
Interesting on Postal Museum - are they counting Mail Rail in that or is that an extra supplement?

dg writes: Mail Rail's not included.
Interesting to see the Higgins Bedford offering 50% off of exhibitions when every one I've ever been to has been free. I may be wrong but I don't recall them ever having charged for an exhibition.
Looks like you'll be doing a lot of house museums this year. I've always wanted to go to Spencer House as it's not on the main tourist trail and looks interesting.
I apologise for the wrappiing the Art Map comes in. I think it might be because I complained rather a lot when their previous orange, and then pink, plastic wrappings made a nasty mark on my worktops (that required bleach to remove) when they got wet.
milliem that Maltese National Trust thing is amazing as described, plus you get several other memberships under that as well. Thank you
