People's Day in Lewisham
Only discovered about this annual event last year. It's *huge*!

Finishing today, 'Calling Tree' - various activities around the big oak tree in Bruce Castle Park. See the Lift festival website.
there's the uninspiringly-named Leyton Get Together tomorrow afternoon, featuring a Caribbean carnival parade (this appears to be the route - it's different from last year's) and Brazil-themed music at Leyton Cricket Ground.

and on the 16th/17th, the Walthamstow Garden Party in Lloyd Park, with music (including Asian Dub Foundation), theatre, comedy and family entertainment.

I thought Merton Abbey was shut until the Autumn due to building works? Even the link doesn't give you a date for opening this July.

dg writes: Ah, misread the link. Now removed, thanks.

Your link says 26th June.
People's Day: Shouldn't that be Misty In Roots?

dg writes: Yes, and now is, thanks.
How does one obtain free entry to the Anniversary Games?
Thanks for the tip about the Bermondsey Carnival: I knew about it but thought the GDIF events were going to come first... until you mentioned the bit about Paul Young being on the bill!
It turned a bit wet (!!!) but it was great :)

The Anniversary Games is definitely not free. It's a Diamond League meeting and you don't get to see Usain, Mo and Jess for nothing.
@Michael - Thanks, that is what I figured, but I wondered if there might be some free places for residents or similar, and if so how they might be obtained.
It's the 15th anniversary of the Urban Art Fair at the end of my road in Brixton next weekend

You missed "Make The Future London" at the QE Park. This was a surprisingly big thing, centred on dozens of teams from around the world competing for an eco vehicle trophy round a specially constructed race track. Not very exciting, but great to see students from as far apart as Ankara and Indiana competing.
Oh sod it! I should have known better and scrolled down! Grovelling apologies! DG doesn't miss anything good!
Londonist has now updated its Things To Do page for the weekend coming, and a couple of 'fresh' listings are a summer fair at Wapping and a cycling event around the Greenwich Peninsula, both on Saturday 9th. On the Sunday there's a French-themed event at Borough Market ahead of Bastille Day.
